So, I'm working on my common app personal statement...and I'm a little disturbed by what I'm reading on here! Maybe I missed the point of the essay section on applications.

I have always been taught to write concise, content-driven pieces. Should I instead be ... composing a symphony of florid language that I find in reality to be profligacy? Do they want to know my vocabulary?

Also, I'm directly answering one of the questions. My essay isn't "The Meaning of Life", or something similar I read on here. Is that the wrong way to go??? :(

Ahhhhh, I'm quite confused by this. This forum is definitely not helping my application so far.

Hehe, I'm quite tempted to take the "Topic of Your Choice" and write about how useless skill at writing a 6-month-prepared essay is for anything other than college admissions, and how I've made better use of my time. :D
