Right path? Suggestions?

Okay, I'm a freshman right now in a public Florida high school. Not a very competitive school I'm pretty sure (not the end of the semester yet) that I'm about number 30 out of 652 in the class rank. In 6 out of 7 honors. Not sure of my unweighted but GPA first quarter was 4.7 weighted. I'm in debate and Mu alpha theta and I'm huge in debate. In the future, I'd like to attend Wharton at UPenn. ( My brother went there ). I have about 10 service hours because I have yet to find a good service place to start volunteering at, so if you could give me advice to where to volunteer if I wanna pursue a career somewhere in the business field. I know there is no way to chance me, seeing as I'm only a freshman, but can you help me, possibly inform me to as if I'm on the right path. Or any suggestions to give me ?

bump.........

bumpppp.......

can someone please give me some sort of response?

just don't get burnt out... that's all i can say.

oh and idk if this really matters but i have a job at the supermarket in my town.

nice. except for the fact that im so bad at taking standardized tests, which is the only thing im worried about.

arite and i know this is prolly the dumbest question but i did know all bout sat's and stuff but last thing I knew, they were outta 1600, so now i'm kinda confused. ahha.

thanks haha. now anyone else looking at this thread, please just post something on any suggestions, or anywhere i can start volunteering at. i also wanted to start a community serivce project kinda thing. wud be kinda cool and looks good. ideas?

=\ I wish I enjoyed my freshman year more..

Just have fun. You're a freshman and thinking about college won't do you any good. In the sense that you already have a college you're striving for and posting on a forum like this, I'd say you're on the wrong track.

I'm not trying to be too harsh, but I strongly discourage anyone from thinking as seriously as you are before the end of sophomore year at the very earliest. I was a little too wound up about life after high school as an underclassman and I wish I had been much more relaxed. Just do whatever YOU think is best and relax.

I'd see if you could do some volunteer work for a law firm or in the financial section of a regular high-tech firm in Florida. Also, pick up the book entitled "Best 109 Interships" from Princeton Review.

Lastly, if none of these appeal to you, consider starting your own volunteer business during the summer--either to make money or to do something to benefit the local community.

If in doubt about what works, go to the Wharton website, and try to get info on what some other students did (some profiles are occasionally listed)--and then consider something similar. Also, look here under this "chances" sections at what some other people list as their extracurriculars--especially those who are applying for Wharton or the top Ivies--and especially for those who we say that we expect them to get in. There are lots of great ideas you can find just by browsing these threads.

One more suggestion: There is a section on here entitled "Stats Profiles"--go there and on the right hand put in "College: University of Pennsylvania" and "Status: Accepted". Then look at what extracurriculars each of these people did. It will give you an idea of what the school is looking for in an applicant.

Good luck.

thanks for everyone's dvice.
