Rigor of senior year

Does the course rigor of your senior year matter?
Should I take difficult classes that require more work and time or should I take less so that I have more time for college applications? Will colleges care that much about senior year? Will they make exceptions for a less rigorous courseload?

I'm going to take 3 AP classes next year (senior year) - AP Calculus, Physics B and Spanish. Will I be able to handle it? I will also have about 4 other classes to take with it although one is only half year. That means I'll have study hall for 3/4 of the year.

Absolutely your senior year matters. However, if you’re taking three AP’s, you’re fine. That’s plenty. Of course, my school only has 4. So three sounds like a lot.

Of course they care… They require a mid-year report from you and WILL use your grades in their decisions. First semester of senior year is still VERY important.

Second semester isn’t used in decisions, but they may rescind you if you drop classes or get Cs or lower.
