Rigorous Courseload

Hi everyone! I am a rising senior and I am starting my CommonApp and have been looking at the required or recommended high school courseload for the colleges that I am considering. At the end of my junior year, I had elected to take two math classes, AP Statistics and AP Calculus. As a result of my desire to double-up on math, I could not fit a history class into my schedule. Though I was concerned about not fulfilling the recommended 4 years of history for most of my schools, I saw that doubling-up on math was an acceptable alternative to filling the recommendation. Unfortunately, my schedule might not allow me to take both math classes or even fill the spot with a history class, which means that I will not fulfill the recommendation. Though it seems like a trivial issue, I am very concerned that my hard-work for the past three years will be overlooked if compared with students who have filled the recommendation. Do you think I still have a shot? I have explained my situation on the CommonApp and my guidance counselor will include it in her letter of recommendation, but I am concerned that colleges will not even look at the additional comments section.

I also am concerned that they will not think my courseload is rigorous enough, as I will only take 5 AP classes throughout high school.

Why on earth would you think that?

Try not to wind up with a study hall. Take the best academic option that fits in the slot.
All you can do is make the best of your situation and not overthink it.
