Ring Day??

Okay so I don't know about other schools, but at my school juniors have a big, over-indulgent ceremony for Ring Day. Well, I just got the information for purchasing rings and the cheapest one is 400 dollars. Not that money is a huge problem in my family, but that just seems like a sinful waste and kind of cruel to families who wouldn't be able to afford that especially in this economy. Typically, every student participates in Ring Day but I'm so morally opposed to it that I don't think I should. Am I being ridiculous or is this stupid ceremony ridiculous?

I think rings are stupid for how expensive they are and thus didn't buy one; however, no one at my school buys them so it's not a big deal.

If you feel that way about it, don't buy one.

I'd be doing the same thing. I think that's horrible. Here they introduce class rings to sophomores. (Talk about waste of money when a student gets it as a sophomore and drops out the next year.)

I think that's wrong. Why make a ceremony so huge, make the rings expensive, then make the kids who can't afford them feel like crap because they can't get theirs? It's just stupid to me.

Wow, our class rings are usually between 45-100 dollars or so depending on what you get. No one really cares about them. Why are they such a big deal at your school?

Ha, I just remembered that there was this really rich guy at my school going around insulting people who said they weren't buying rings because he thought they all couldn't afford them. Never mind that most people at my school totally could and everyone just chooses not to.

And what does one do with a ring, anyway? Wear it? It seems like it's an over priced symbol.

No one at my school gets them because its stupid... You'll wear it for your senior year, summer after high school, and not look at it until its time to show your grandkids.

the ceremony is ridiculous..our school doesn't have that YES!!
