I plan on applying to Ringling College of Art and Design by Jan. 15th for Computer Animation but I don't have a portfolio and did the five exercises for people without formal training as listed on the website. I never had any studio classes and I was going to get AP Studio Art for my senior year but my school removed it as a class and decided they would get AP Studio Art next year =_=. So my question is..are my chances SIGNIFICANTLY lower to get into CPU Animation without a portfolio? Because I know Computer Animation is apparently the hardest program to get into.

The five exercises help them to judge your awareness of materials, composition, creativity. If you’ve done your best then you should stand as reasonable a chance as the next person.

If Ringling is your dream school and you don’t get in this year. Relax. Give yourself that extra year to build up a super portfolio and polish up your application. Get a job and experience life as a starting out artist- where you have to find time to draw in your freetime. Its a good personal test of commitment and time management.
