RIP cornell dream?

700bioM
750math2c

are these sat2 scores going to jepordize my chance of admission at the engineering program?
with a 4.0, 2200+ sats, and good ec's, should i still be fine?

im an indian female (which doesnt really help at all)

i think being female helps even if indian…

i think you stand a chance

wow thanks [:

im retaking math2
and next year, i’m taking chem and US.

hopefully, things turn out better.

lol why would this end ‘the dream’? Those are good scores, and it’s more or less what I had on those two tests respectively.

ahha, your thread title is hilarious

it seems all you care about is your grades…therefore, yes, your dream will RIP

kids these days need to stop worryin that grades/sat’s is what matters the most

because honestly, it doesn’t mean jack SH1ZZL3Z

There’s no need to retake Math II. 750 is a high enough score.

Grades are somewhat important, but other stuff matters as well. I myself hope to apply ED for Cornell next school year. I scored 1940 (670/670/600) on my only SAT and 790 and 700 for U.S. History and Math I respectively; but I also have really high grades (mid-to-high 90’s) and at least top 5 rank in my high school. Thankfully, I decided to become a runner for my school’s team as a freshman; and that’s been highly beneficial for me. It really isn’t all about the grades. The numbers can’t tell how intelligent or dedicated someone really is.

what’s more important is to not THINK or have the mindset that grades are what is going to “kill your dream”…get what you can from what you CAN do…don’t listen to what others get

I got in with a mindset that I knew Cornell would look at me as someone who was passionate and can succeed at what he’s doing regardless of standardized test scores.

Btw, I’m talking standardized test scores, not HS grades.

I know a friend who decided to retake an 800 (he barely got an 800, and did not realize that colleges only care about the actual score), and got like a 740 his second time. I don’t think the difference between a 750 and 800 will be worth the retake. It certainly won’t prevent you from getting in. If you want to demonstrate math ability, I would focus more on AP/IB exams and math competitions.

okay thanks everyone
yerr all so nice [:
im considering having my math score rescored…
i could have SWORN i got an 800.
anyways, cornell 2015 ftw.

i really think you need to stop worrying about your grades and focus on other ECs…my scores were lower than that and i still managed to get in…

Obviously I can not predict w/certainty. But w/your stats and the fact that you are a female, I would say you will be admitted.

My D’s roommate was admitted w/ similar or lower stats.

I do not think you need to retake the math sat II.

I think your SAT IIs are fine. I got in with 640 Bio, 720 Lit, and 740 US Hist.

being female is a huge advantage

I’m gonna be a senior at Cornell and I got a 640 on the Math 1. (Might have been a flub - I got a 710 on the SAT Math.)

gasp, I know.

Given, I’m a humanities double-major. But still. I hope that puts this in perspective for you.

The ASEE admitted engineering student data for 2008 shows an SAT Math 25/75 range of 720 to 790. That means that 25% of the admitted engineering students had math scores below 720. Relax.

What will make or break your application is how interesting you are, how you present yourself, and what you bring to the Cornell community. They are not really looking for folks who obsess over the fourth decimal point of their GPA or the difference between a 740 or a 760. Get a life, explore your passions, be interesting.
