RISD Brown Degree

Does anyone know anything about a joint degree, 5 year program? If so, would applying to both enhance your chances of getting into Brown assuming RISD is less competitive?

You apply completely separately to each school and to the joint program. Both admissions committees look at you separately as though you were only applying there before they even KNOW you're doing the dual degree thign essentially.

You can get into one or the other without getting into both or get into both and not get into the dual degree program. Once you get into both separately, you then are essentially bumped to a new application committee which will select only a few students to actually pursue both degrees.

They said they are only going to choose about 20 people to start out this new program.

Brown assuming RISD is less competitive?

Umm...RISD is not "less competative"

It's one of the top fine arts school in the nation
they accept u based on talent, not by SAT scores (though surprisingly, youracademics plays a much bigger role in risd's deiciosn than most art colleges)
