I haven't seen a very recent RD RISD forum on here, so I just decided to start one. Apparently decisions come out tomorrow at 5pm Eastern Time so feel free to post on here whether you're accepted or not and post your stats as well!

SAT/ACT score
GPA
Class Rank
Hook
Financial Aid Status (I don't know if they'll provide by email)
Anything else you feel is important to your application

And yes, I know these stats really don't matter but what the heck? Might as well right?

I’m too lazy to post my stats up haha. I kept thinking that they were going to send out the decisions today. But apparently that was for the MFA program. So there’s still hope yet Instead, I will post up my portfolio: There are two more pieces that I added but I can’t seem to find them right now.

Leloar, haha it’s understandable. Was it really? Ugh, I was so nervous and excited today for no reason! Wow nice portfolio! That would have been something to mention on my first post. I heard that RISD really likes figure drawing, and I see so much. You’ve got a great chance there with your work :)

Well, I was checking to see who got accepted today and it only consisted for MFA students. Haha hopefully, I haven’t gotten the email yet. For some reason, I had no mail today at all.

A lot of them got their mailed rejections/acceptances either today or yesterday. I’m figuring that the BFA must be tomorrow then, since I haven’t found any recent posts for the BFA majors saying that they got in.

I’m on the Facebook group page for RISD admissions, and an admission officer said the decisions by email could be sent out today. I also noticed that when they send out emails is when they decide to mail off the letters, so if you get accepted, you probably wouldn’t get your package until at least a week later. I love the contours you made on the eagle! I also really like how diverse your portfolio becomes, with the addition of the 3D project and several sketches.

I just got my email. I was wait-listed. I’m just glad that I didn’t get flat out rejected haha. It’s probably because my grades aren’t that great, with math lowering my GPA down to a 3.6

I’m so frazzled and emotionally distraught that I’m finding it absolutely impossible to pay attention in class at the moment… The email said that they will send me an official Letter of rejection/acceptance/waitlist in a few days so…
Sigh!!!
I hope for the best for everyone else though!

Oh god mangohalo I can’t believe you received it during class… But hey, you still have a chance! Look at it that way. Is RISD where you definitely want to go? And thank you so much!

Yes RISD is definitely first choice but I understand that I’m waitlisted because I just started art this November so I know that my art skills are not as good as the others who have been drawing and painting for years!

Ohh I see, but that’s super impressive! Just starting at art and being considered by RISD, arguably the best art school in America. Props! RISD has been my dream school since the beginning of high school! It is definitely my first choice, but unfortunately, I’m not rich enough to afford RISD just like that since it’s extremely expensive. So I would also have to consider how much aid they would give if I get accepted really. :(

Waitlisted! Does anyone have any information on students who are waitlisted? Like how many are waitlisted, and how many are accepted from the waitlist??

Thanks justcoffee. I hope you get your email soon!

Honestly, from what I’ve been reading online, unless you’re in the top tier, you’re unlikely to get in. Same goes for financial aid, which mainly goes to the people they accepted straight up. I think that we’ll be getting letters next week telling us of where we stand.

Thank you! I worked extremely hard on my portfolio to hone my skills in such a short amount of time :)

Well I hope you do get to go! I am a firm believer that no matter what happens, you will always end up going where you’re meant to be so of RISD is is where you are meant to be, somehow fate will intervene! Be positive and don’t worry too much!

I got in! I cannot believe it. However, I’ve chosen another school already. So, anyone on the waitlist, there will be a spot for you soon. Good luck.
