RISD Portfolio

D is working on portfolio this summer while she has some time. Are the requirements the same every year: the bicycle, the indoor or outdoor environment and student choice? Thanks in advance for your input!

This is the same portfolio my D put together 3 years ago!

I have a question....If I wanted to apply to RISD for fashion design, would my portfolio be expected to be a regular art portfolio or would it be expected to consist of all or mostly fashion design.

I hear their admissions committee might come up with new assignments. (source: Facebook RISD Admissions group)

alamonde, you have to have a regular art portfolio because RISD freshmen do not get placed into their preferred major right away--even if you note that you are interested in a particular major on the application. Freshmen have to go through the foundation year, which make you do 2d, 3d, and drawing.

ALso, if you plan on applying to other schools, and you don't want them to know you are also applying to RISD, leave the bicycle drawing out of the portfolio. It's common knowledge that it's a RISD requirement.
