@ArtAngst Our daughter loved her summer at RISD, so she knows she would be very happy there, and it’s been her first choice for the past few years. However they are the only school that didn’t offer any funds, so it would be a full-pay situation if that’s where she goes. She received nice merit scholarships from Parsons, Pratt, MICA, and Tufts/SMFA, so she wants to consider those schools thoroughly before make a final decision. (She was also waitlisted at NYU/Steinhardt, but doesn’t know if there is any chance of ultimately getting in there.) She went to MICA’s Admitted Students Open House last weekend, and wasn’t enthused, so she’s taken that off the list. She does really like the idea of being in or adjacent to NYC, making both Parsons and Pratt appealing, so we’re considering a trip to visit those schools. Unfortunately both Pratt and Parsons have their Visit Day on the same day next weekend, so she may go to the Pratt one and then do a regular Parsons tour on Monday, since Pratt has no regular tours available either Friday or Monday. She applied as a Painting major, but may consider switching to illustration or graphic design down the road. Is your oldest happy at RISD?
