RISD Transfer?

So I graduated from high school in June and as of now, I'm going to a mediocre liberal arts school with (supposedly) a fairly good visual/performing arts schools. However, I'm thinking of going to my community college. I believe I'll be more motivated at the 4 year college, and the freshman foundation will be more useful, but I'll save money by going to the community college. On a side note, my community college is in RI, so would that help me at all? I mean, my boyfriend goes to UConn and has been doing a work study with a professor at Yale, so maybe I'll get lucky and I can find connections? Or should I not bother with RISD and wait until the graduate level to save more money? Also, any advice you could give me about transferring to RISD would be appreciated. Thanks!

RISD is a private school, so the fact that your CC is in RI does not make a difference. A connection with someone at Y is unlikely to matter either, LORs are required to be from Instructors who have taught you in a class. What’s going to matter at RISD is your portfolio and whether you can afford it as they are not known to be generous with need based FA.

I know RISD’s private, but NYU has some program with community colleges are NJ/NY, and I was hoping they’d show some love to us RIders. Man, I hate RI, we don’t get any benefits…

What I meant was, I heard that some professors teach at smaller schools during the summer. Eh…I guess I’ll take my chances waiting until grad school…being poor is no fun.
