RISE Internship

Anyone else here apply to the daad rise internships? It seems like a pretty interesting summer internship researching in Germany. The only thing is that they give you such a small stipend and you have to pay for airfare. I guess if I get in I'll try requesting money from my college to help with costs. I checked the daad website and it looks like they received around 1000 applications for 600 positions. We are supposed to here back from them at the beginning of March right?

Hello! Yes, I applied as well, I am still waiting to hear from them. Have you heard from them yet?

No I haven’t heard anything back yet. I already accepted somewhere else though since I had to let them know by the beginning of March.

hey there

I have also applied and I’m still waiting to hear from them tho…

what about you? have you heard anything from them yet?

hey there, have u heard anything from RISE yet?

I also applied and have not recieved a reply. I have not been contacted by the phD students either. I don’t know if thats a good or a bad sign.

yeah neither have I…

I’m not sure what this means though… this whole waiting thing is killing me lol

I applied too… I’m dying to hear back! :/

I saw a girl in facebook heard from them the 3rd of March. It’s only this one girl though, she created a group for daad 2009 but there are only 2 people in it.

yeah now the group on facebook has 4 people - good for them! :)

but I wonder if they are gonna inform those who didn’t get it in the end as well…

it’s been 2 weeks…

They should at least let people know if they didn’t get-in.

Now there are 5 people in the facebook. I’m guessing I didn’t get the scholarship. :(

Does anyone know if they notify the applicants by mail or email?

I have not heard back either… something is weird with DAAD.

“By the beginning of March we will inform you about the outcome of your application.”

It is March 12 today.

Does someone have a link to the facebook group? I can’t find it.

I don’t know if this is true but I heard that 3.8 was their gpa cutoff. I really hope that this is not true because I don’t have a 3.8 gpa.

If you type in daad 2009 on facebook search it will show you the group page.

This is the link to the 2009 daad rise group in facebook:

[DAAD Rise 2009 | Facebook](Facebook)

There are now 6 members. Ok, im oficially depressed now.

Congratulations to any of you if you make it in.

where did you hear that from?

also, different schools have different gpa scales so for them to say 3.8 is the cut-off is pretty unfair to most of us

if gpa is the ONLY thing that they are looking for, then what’s the point of asking us to write all the cover letters, resumes, and request reference letters from our supervisors?

Actually, from their own description on their FAQ page, they do systematically base matches off of GPA. They don’t mention a cut-off though.

And I think we’ll all hear back in the next couple of days, since it seems like people JUST started hearing back today.

I don’t consider March 13 the beginning of March, ***! I just wish to get some kind of notification, (even a rejection letter) so that I can be at peace again!

The waiting thing is killing me and I keep seeing that facebook group fill up!

does any know if they notify you by email? or by mail? yeah it really doesn’t make sense that they are making you do all that application if they are only basing it on GPA =\ yeah i agree with bunnyrabbit, it’s like mid march now xD lol

I’m just gonna assume it’s a no from them for now

it’s kinda sad considering how much effort you have put into making ur application look as good as possible but oh well…

I know some people who got it and they don’t even like research and if u think about it really it’s just solely based on how high ur GPA is, regardless of whether or not if ur interest in research work is there
