Does any one know about clemsons RISE program and if its better to live with engineers freshman year or with everyone?

DS is a Comp E major. He is in honors dorm but really likes living with other students pursuing the same major &/or courses. Makes it easy to help each other out. Personally, I don't know how anyone could make it through engineering without study groups. It's tough stuff and really time consuming.

I'm a freshman at Clemson, I applied for the RISE program but didn't get accepted for some reason (I think I applied too late). It's not really a big deal. You are bound to live near an engineer no matter what dorm you're in, everyone on my floor is a Professional Golf Management major (joke) but there are still some engineers on the floor too. Living without "study groups" isn't a big deal, unless you have no self-discipline at all, or don't know how to study. I wouldn't worry about getting in unless you're really interested in it.

You might also want to consider the dorm that they assign the RISE students to. If my memory is correct, RISE is housed in not so nice dorms. I still recommend living with other engineering students the first year or two. I think there are some additional supports for RISE students that would be beneficial to have close at hand. Good Luck

"not so nice dorms" = Shoeboxes (Benet, Geer, Cope, Sanders, Young), and still they aren't that bad, I live in Benet. A freshman dorm is a freshman dorm.
