Hey Everyone,

I'm just a rising junior, so I'm not planning to give a full chance me, but there's been something troubling me.

Basically, I got a couple 4s this year on APs because I studied them all last night (self-study APs) with I guess not the best review books (I know this isn't really an excuse, but it makes me feel a little better). Anyways, how much do APs play?

I have 800s in three subject SATs, and my SAT is projected to be 2200+. I'm taking all the hardest courses, and blah blah.

Other Brief Points:
GPA: 4.00, Weighted: ~4.8 or so in the end
Major Awards I Have: USAMO, USAJMO
Projected: Bio/Physics/Chem Olympiads (unfortunately missed these by a few points this year, but I'm pretty sure I should make at least 1 of these next year (most likely 2)).
Various awards in math and science competitions
Various research experience in biochem and a physics lab
Shadowing a Dentist
A lot of community service tutoring math and science and various programs (I'm going to do something bigger this summer as well with less fortunate people and tutoring)

This is really brief and I leave out a LOT (have some big projects planned), but I just want to give a very general overview..

Will these APs affect my chances at Ivies?

AP test scores play a role in placement not acceptance.

I agree with this 110%

I like the confidence… but I’m still a little unsure.
Won’t the admission officers see my scores on my app and won’t it affect their decision?

By the way, wouldn’t mind if people just regular chanced me as well with the info I have above :D

I kind of need to see your SAT score which is looked heavily by the Ivies. Also it seems like you just want to hear praises and compliments about how good you look. If you think you’re prepared and ready for the Ivies then keep on striving. I think you have good chances getting into the Ivies, you’re fine.

I don’t know why you’re “still a little unsure”, because the answers JakMal and FantasyVesperia gave are completely true. And we can’t chance you if you don’t list any schools…

You self-report APs when you apply so you don’t even have to mention the APs in your app. Don’t worry about AP scores, you’re fine.

I think you have perfection issues.

Most schools give credit for 4s, and even then they usually would rather have you take their own courses.

I can’t believe that you would say getting 4s on AP exams is your “one flaw.” Really now?

Thank you everyone – my confidence is reassured. But more importantly, I’m really sorry, I guess I came off as pretty arrogant, and I kind of hate myself for it. Um I wish I could apologize more, but um, yea, think I can’t say much more. Thanks again, feel a little better about APs (though not about what I came off as… but yea thanks for the reality check too, helped me in life)! You guys have fixed more than one of my plethora of flaws!

AGH I wish I could edit my previous posts…

I didn’t mean to make you feel really bad about yourself. I just think it’s important to realize that even perfect grades and test scores does not guarantee admission to the top schools in the country. You could focus your time on other parts of your application, or just enjoy your teenage years, instead of worrying about AP scores. :)

Dude a 4 is still good. If your that worried withhold them.

Don’t worry about it. Like everyone said, if you’re really worried about the 4’s, just don’t report them. You’ll get accepted into many many places.
