<p>I am a sophomore at East Carolina University looking to transfer to Chapel Hill for Fall 2013. (out of state student) </p>
<p>High School:
GPA: 2.7
SAT 1650
Worked in Excavation, President of Hands on Science Club, Varsity Swimming, Eagle Scout. Other random ECs</p>
<p>College:
Major: Economics - Quant track
GPA 3.75
VP of fundraising and later VP of Financial Management Association, exec board member for Beta Theta Pi
many more ECs</p>
<p>Internships: 2 different Hedge fund internships, Floor broker at the NYSE-AMEX, and already have an internship at Tudor Investment Corp next summer.</p>
<p>I think you have a decent chance. You should definitely apply.</p>
<p>I think after two years of college, high school stats are significantly less valued, if even looked at all. So if for the past two years of university you’ve kept a 3.75+ gpa and done all those cool things, I’d say you are a competitive candidate.</p>
<p>It’s hard, because UNC has a limited amount of space for out-of-state. </p>
<p>But you should definitely apply if that’s where you want to go!</p>

<p>Thanks, I tend to emphasize my extra curricular activities when I can. I figure its a better story for admissions and hopefully more memorable.</p>

<p>Hi, I seem to be posting right behind you tonight and even though I don’t have any wise words on your transfer status I wanted to wish you good luck. I have a son your age at Chapel Hill (which you will have figured out from my earlier posts this evening) but I also have a younger son whose current High School GPA is about where yours was. I spent so much time hand-wringing with Big Bro that 3.78 wasn’t good enough to get into Carolina that I’ve lost perspective. Younger son will be a music major and doesn’t give a rip about any classes but, ha! Thanks for showing me a sub 3.0 isn’t the end of the world.</p>
<p>All that being said, and please take this with a grain of salt as I have no experience in Transfers, but proving yourself with a 3.75+ is stellar in my book. </p>
<p>I’m not a complete pro on CC… wonder if you should repost in a different section? Think that would get some responses from folks who know about Transfer Stats?</p>
<p>Thanks. I wouldn’t worry about a sub 3.0 GPA. I thought of college as a complete waste of time myself before I went. However after coming to college and going to classes I came to enjoy learning and intellectual growth in general. Not to mention it is just as important to know how to talk to people and learn what makes them tick. That’s what I’m good at and is where I have made my experiences come from. Unfortunately Chapel Hill does not do interviews so I have to make do with what I can put into an essay. </p>
