Rutgers and Minnesota both have callback weekends on campus - so even if you audition at unifieds you might need to travel. (And therefore might want to work it into your plan) D did Minn at unifieds - they had an interesting audition twist- a “stretch” piece, something you can’t play (now b/c of age etc, or ever b/c of gender, race etc) but feel a strong connection to.
@toowonderful Those too are in my top and definitely will be traveling to those if I am called back. Working on that piece now! Have some good ideas!
@ActingDad good to know, good to know.
Would anyone recommend any safety schools I should look at in the Northeast?
Evansville is a slightly less selective and they offer good scholarships, espec. if you have academic stats that are solid. I’d suggest Southern Methodist, also. On paper, SMU is very pricey, but they have a good endowment. My D’s acceptance there included plenty of aid to make it affordable. She’s an above-average student, but by no means the tippy top of her class.
I think Drew University is a good safety option and also has good scholarships for good academic status (so I’ve heard).
Maybe consider adding Texas State to your list. It’s SUPER selective, but also SUPER affordable if you get in.
Muhlenberg in PA is (I believe) a non-audition program, known for being affordable.
