Rising Senior, Low ACT Score. Help!!!!!

Advice is voluntary and you better learn to appreciate it. If you’re the one asking for advice, don’t insult other people’s advice just because they’re trying to help you. You’re the one who’s in a bad situation right now–not us.

husseinraul: omg stop insulting me plz gimme real advice

Reading these posts over makes me laugh

Here’s some advice OP -

Welp, by the looks of it, you just aren’t smart enough to get a good score. Sorry, pal. Maybe invest some time in volunteering or something. Oh and social skills are always a good thing to have too!

Good luck.

Where did you hear that? As long as you’ve got a good score on one of them you’re golden. Are you scared that schools that require ALL testing will look at your poor ACT scores and hold it against you? I talked to a Penn admissions officer last year and she said it doesn’t matter. Even if you did well on the SAT and poorly on the ACT, the only number they will see is your SAT. And even if a few others don’t and see your whole testing history nonetheless, they won’t care about your ACT. They might start to care, however, if they see you taking the ACT many more times than you need to (and the SAT as well).

Of course, this is for the VERY few top schools I know that require all testing materials to be sent. As for the majority, you’ll appreciate the beauty of score choice.

Bottom line: I would just stick to the SAT IF you wanna spend a bit more time and energy improving your standardized test scores. You do NOT have to have a similar ACT score to “look good” – you’ve already proven your test-taking prowess through your 2290, and THAT score will be what the adcoms will focus on. Personally, though, I don’t see a need to retake any sort of test unless you REALLY need to see a “3” in the hundreds digit on your SAT, an attempt which, by the way, fell short by an insignificant 10 points (read: insignificant).

yea to be honest, i think im gonna give up on this act stuff haha

too much effort.

If you want to improve your score, take some community college classes. :0

Never mind. Too much effort.
