Rising Senior with Good ECs! Please rate!

Hi guys,

Thanks for taking your time to look at my thread.

I am looking into UNC, Indiana Bloomington, Duke, Michigan, Northwestern, Cornell, Notre Dame, Texas, UVA, and UIUC (EA to those that apply, RD to others). I am OOS to all schools.

My stats:

UWGPA: 3.74 (straight As junior year with 5 APs after bad freshman year and okay sophomore year, with 7 combined APs the 3 years).
SAT: 2270 (second sitting)
SAT II: 800 Math Level 2… Taking Chem and U.S. History next year
ACT: 33… Most likely will retake or not send
Class rank: 16/448 (good public school sends kids to Stanford, Cal Tech, some ivies.

Senior schedule includes AP Chem, AP Lit, AP Calc BC, and AP Government.

EC:
-Drum Major of school band this year(section captain previous year as junior)
-Trumpet player… All state band and all state jazz. I was also accepted into Brevard and Interlochen summer camps, and will be attending Interlochen this year!
-2nd place in citywide concerto competition
-Principal trumpet of local youth orchestra
-I also go around middle schools after school to help out teachers with kids (learning music, trumpet instruction, etc.)
-In non music, I tutor at my school as part of the NHS, and also have amassed 150 hours at my local library.

I am East Asian, and my family income bracket is around $100,000.

Thanks again.

I also want to note that I’ve done a lot more musical activities (clinics and events around the state, drum major camps, etc.). I’ve been heavily involved for the past 3 years for sure.

Bump

For most of the schools you have a fairly legitimate application. Your GPA is going to hurt you at Duke, Northwestern and Cornell–especially relative to other Asian applicants. As such, those are going to be fair reaches.

Thanks! That’s a little dissappointing, but I will probably apply anyways and see if essays/upward trend/ECs can help me out.
