Rising Seniors--Ready to Start Applying?

I expect to turn it down based on price, but they do have some merit scholarships. The same is possible with Texas. Between the remaining four state schools and the other two in Texas, I should be okay. If not, I have safeties w/guaranteed merit aid to fall back on.

~$190k, I’m an only child. I don’t like wasting money.

EDIT: Cost isn’t the only reason I don’t like many of the top private schools. I prefer the big-school vibe and like the opportunities available at the schools on my list.

Yes, aid at MIT would be quite unlikely. A small amount of aid at Harvard is possible, though.

I took the USNWR Top 50 National Universities, put them in a list on Open Office, and have been systematically striking them through after much research and deliberation.
Down to about 25 at the moment.

When do supplements usually come out?

Anyhow, here’s my list as of now…

Barnard
Smith
Bryn Mawr
Rice
Sarah Lawrence
U of Texas

I’m considering NYU and Swarthmore, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Oh, and I’m definitely considering Pomona and Skidmore. I also need to look for another safety or two as most of the ones I’ve listed are matches/reaches.

Urgh I just want to fast forward through the fall.
I’m thinking:

Temple
American
Rutgers
Ramapo
TCNJ
Fordham
U Maryland
UConn

My grades aren’t stellar so a lot of these are reaches. Temple is my favorite, the only thing is it’s about two blocks from the projects.

I have started on my CommonApp essay. I hope to finish the CommonApp by the end of the summer. Then I am going to work on the supplements. Yale first, because I am applying there EA.

My list:
Harvard
Princeton
Yale
Amherst
Wellesley
Cornell
Huntsman Penn
Dartmouth
Mount Holyoke
UF

:)

My college list (unabridged):
Yale (EA)
Princeton
Brown
Harvard
Stanford
Columbia
Amherst
Pomona
UCLA
UC Berlekey
UC Santa Barbara

However if I am accepted to Yale I will only apply to Princeton. If Yale defers me I will apply to all of the schools except Amherst, Pomona, UCLA, Berkeley. If Yale rejects me I will apply to all.

My list:
Cornell (ED)
CMU
UMich - Ann Arbor
UC Berkeley
UCLA
Columbia
UPenn
UIllinois
USC

In response to your question, not at all.

But here’s my list anyways:

UVA
VTech
W&M
Carnegie-Mellon
JHU
George Mason
Vanderbilt
Cornell
Columbia

Oh and Harvard for fun:)

Haven’t touched a single essay topic as of yet.

Cornell
UPenn
Columbia
UMich
JHU
CMU
Duke
Princeton?
MIT?
Safeties

Plan to start early July.

How do you all know the essay topics if Common App hasn’t been changed?

^ They don’t really vary from year to year.

I’ll be starting my essays on August 1st - when the Common App is updated.

My list:
Yale (SCEA) or Cornell (ED) - completely dependent on June scores, then if I get rejected:
Princeton
Brown
Cornell or Yale (not including whichever one I got rejected from early, obviously)
Penn
Duke
NYU
JHU
GWU

I’ll probably have some safeties in there as well. Opinions?

They already have a preview of what it is going to be, and the essays have not changed…

anyone applying to Williams? it pains me to see this many Amhersts and 0 Williams. Why #2 when you can have #1? plus the town of amherst…-.-

I’ll be ready to apply when my school year finally ends.

Schools I’m thinking of right now: (not necessarily a final list by any means)

Middlebury
Williams
Barnard
Wellesley
McGill
Mount Holyoke
Bowdoin
Suny New Paltz
Suny Binghamton
Suny Geneseo
Brandeis

I can’t believe that next year I’ll be walking at graduation to get my diploma, it seems so surreal.

LAC’s are a bit small for my taste, I may apply to one of the two though.

holy crap you guys are ready. Thankfully i found out about CC during my senior year haha. i started my apps and essays in like october/november of senior year >.>
