Rising Seniors - Reserve your hotel for graduation NOW

My niece graduated from Elon University (NC) this past weekend and my sister in law reserved her hotel a year in advance and still couldn’t get one in the same town (albeit a small town but still). She gave me the advice to reserve a room now for son’s graduation from USC for next spring - 2017! I went on to search out of curiosity and found several hotels seem to be completely booked already and/or they are already crazy high prices. I booked 4 rooms at Staybridge Suites for ~ $160/night, which was a deal compared to all the others I found. We’ve stayed there a few times over the years and it’s not walking distance but still a nice hotel, spacious rooms with full kitchens. Son is our oldest and first of our 2 kids to graduate so I would’ve never thought of having to reserve a hotel this far in advance… I probably would’ve waited til Dec/ Jan for a May graduation, thinking that was advance planning! Lol

If anyone who has graduates already has any other helpful advise with senior graduation planning, it is welcomed and appreciated!

When my older DD graduated from the University of Alabama, the room situation was the same. We ended up renting a game day condo in Ttown for the weekend through Vacations by Owners. Other of my DD friend’s families rented houses by a nearby lake and just turned graduation into a vacation. If you want to have a family meal out – start calling restaurants to find out their reservation policy graduation weekend.
