Hello i'm a rising sophomore and i just wanted to check if my schedule sounded good! Also, i'm planning on going to cornell later on... My fav college so far that i've visited! So please tell me wht you think and If im on the right track !! ( gpa(w):4.46 gpa(uw): 3.5) i know its kinda low but im onna work my butt off next year and so on!!

English II Honors
Algebra II Honors
Geometry Honors
Chemistry Honors
Psychology AP
French AP
Drawing Portfolio AP

Also, i need to know if good universities and ivies care a lot about your freshman year, because i got a's and b's :/

Of course they care about your freshman year, but it’s definitely the least important. Is this the hardest courseload you can take? If so, then it’s fine… duh.

Your freshman GPA was low for an ivy, and the schedule looks good, but why are you not taking world or US history? Also be warned Chem honors is brutal if you have a good teacher so don’t be surprised if you pull a B.

Thats a pretty difficult schedule. Freshmen year is counted, but the least weight is put on it. Some colleges (such as the university of California) do not even take freshmen year into consideration. I think your in good shape.

You should take a class in math, english, history, and sciences every year if you want to go to a good college. Your grades are low for Cornell, but you still have three years to pull them up! If you brought up all your grades to As this year it would show that you can improve.

I’ve got a great solution for this kid. stop stressing for now, there’ll be plenty of time for that later. try to have some fun. Also @artsygirl a lot of schools don’t have World History but have AP Euro History instead and then teach what they call “global history” for state tests, so don’t be surprised if you see that. I agree with the core every year (unless you’re so advanced that you exhaust every class in a subject that your school has and cannot find classes at a nearby college).
But does anyone here seriously believe that it’s reasonable to judge his chances at ivy leagues solely based on his freshman year GPA and sophomore year courseload? -.-
I think you should leave CC for now and come back maybe halfway through or at the end of junior year. All you’ll see now is a bunch of rickroids who will scare and intimidate and stress you more than necessary.
