Q: so what do all the freshmen dudes who dont know upperclassmen do?
A: tag along with other friends who have siblings or know upperclassmen, wander around the mods. as first semester gets underway, you’ll meet a lot of upperclassmen. maybe contact your OL! it gets a lot better second semester.

Q:How is gonzaga? thats the dorm I’m going too!
A: wooo! gonzaga for life! it’s pretty awesome. it’s the closest to the stairs leading up to upper campus, which is nice when it’s hot/cold. um, there’s a huge classroom on the second floor which is always nice to have, esp during midterms and finals. there’s a massive basement that we shared with fitz with a tv lounge, laundry, and more study space. it’s a really great dorm to meet a bunch of different kinds of people. you’ll enjoy it!

If you go to “Current Courses and Grades” on agora, there is a column on the table that is titled “Cr”. This is the number of credits a given class is worth.

Each course also shows the number in it’s title on BC’s website under ‘courses’. For example, your bio course is 3 units, which I have bolded. Generally, discussion sections are just that, discussions, and earn zero unit. Chem Lab is one unit. Each of your other courses are 3, so the total is 16 units.

I didn’t really pay attention to the desks or anything while at orientation, but do they have someplace to attach a laptop lock? Is there a place in the rooms to attach a laptop lock?

Also, where is the “main” workout facility on Newton? I didn’t see one in my building on the floor plans, Duche East.

Woops, one last thing. I have Professor Finn for Perspectives, however there are no course evals on Agora for him/her, and absolutely nothing on PEPs when I search the name. Is this a new professor? Anyone have any possible insight on him/her?

I dug this up, he used to teach at a Saint John’s in MN apparently, he gave a joint speech or something with Prof. Pope at BC in '09, went to UChicago.

I found out that I’m in Kostka! I wasn’t expecting to get all-girls housing. Have you heard anything about it (whether it’s good or bad, etc)? Thanks :)

Q: I found out that I’m in Kostka! I wasn’t expecting to get all-girls housing. Have you heard anything about it (whether it’s good or bad, etc)? Thanks
A: I dont know if Kostka is all girls again. I assume it is, though. Yeah, I’ve been in it several times, it’s pretty nice, though not as newly renovated as the other dorms. Kostka is great because it’s so close to the stairs and mac and classes. It also has a “secret” passageway which I’ll let you discover for yourself (it’s awesome!!!). I think there’s also access to the roof, but I dont know if I should be telling you that either hahaha.

I want get an iPad so I can download all my textbooks onto it and read them. Does BC have most of its textbooks digitally and/or can I probably find them on different applications? Some schools have deals with the textbooks, does BC have anything like this?

I still have these two questions if anyone can answer,

"I didn’t really pay attention to the desks or anything while at orientation, but do they have someplace to attach a laptop lock? Is there a place in the rooms to attach a laptop lock?

I also wanted to know if anyone had experience with Professor Zhang. I’m thinking of switching out of McGowan’s section of Stat because I’d really rather have a boring class and get a good grade, than a slightly more interesting class and suffer. I’m thinking of switching into Zhang or Ko, if anyone can provide insight on them. There’s nothing on Agora or PEPs.

Dunno, but I can assure you that BC is an extremely safe campus. I would be surprised if more than a handful cable lock their computers in their dorms – all of which lock automatically upon close.

Put it this way, some/many students leave their “stuff” including laptop, in a library carrell while they go out for coffee or a bathroom break. Definitely not recommended, but it just goes to the safety of the campus.

Q: For the most part, are the books listed on the bookstore pretty accurate? (As in most of them will be used and whatnot.)
A: for the most part, yes. sometimes on the first day of class the professor might say you may need to get additional books or he/she may decide to not use one of hte required books. but, pretty accurate for the most part.

Also, if your schedule says your class is in More 103 or 104, it’s referring to the residential hall, not the other building across the street. that’s all!

Actually, you might want to check into that, because a friend of mine had a class in More Hall (the building across the street, not the residential hall) last year. I know they also have some classes in the residential hall (like 90 st. thomas more rd.), but I don’t know what it would show up as on the schedule.
