How important are APs for admission to Michigan (OOS)? Deciding on classes for next year. Obviously the AP test results would not show up on application. Our high school ranks same for AP or Honors. Does AP count for much in admissions at UMich?

The quality of course selection is an important factor in admissions consideration. Your application will be more favorably received if there is a challenging curriculum and it will be noted if challenging classes were avoided. GPA is the most important factor so my general advise is to take the most challenging courses that you feel you will do well in.

Yes, Michigan generally expects several AP-level classes in Junior and Senior year, assuming the school offers such classes.
