rising trends

If someone has a huge rising trend, but a low overall gpa, does this matter to the colleges?

say, 3.0, 3.65, 4.0, 4.0?

Cumulative. gpa would still be ~3.6…

assume for top 25 colleges

thanks

I'm in the exact same position as you. I went from a 3.0 to a 3.7, to a 4.0.

Uh, 2.4, 3.7, 3.4.

dies

OH yea...huge rising trends are highly looked upon and tells colleges you got things straight and working hard. But downtrends are a killer

i knew rising gpa was the next best thing to a 4.0 across, but would It knock me (us) out of the better colleges (top 20) because our overall gpa is still low?

No. Like I said in my other post, my friend failed a freshman class, rocked the rest of the way, and got into Cornell. I'm pretty sure his uwGPA was around 3.3-3.4. Maybe even lower.

thank the dear lord...

3.7 fresh year-
? Soph.
? junior.

so that's 2 years to make up for it..sigh..

Son's uw GPA was 3.6 at college application time - 3.5, 3.4+, 4.0. He will be attending UChicago this fall. Don't give up - remember that your first quarter and mid year grades will be very important also!

congrats on your son

I myself can't wait to get to college. Of course, ill probably want to go back to high school after my freshman year at college...ha

thats good to hear, im was worried that my first two years (cumulative gpa) would knock me out of the running for some colleges that i am interested in.

Karma,
look at the schools where the % in the top ten percent is not so insanely high. This does knock out most ivies, Caltech, Stanford, and out-of-state applications to places like UVA, UCB and UNC CH (apply if you want - just a long shot). However, it leaves many top schools to which you can reasonably apply. Depending on your board score and EC's, look at schools a bit less selective as matches, and a bit less selective as safeties.

Since your GPA is a bit scruffy, make sure the rest of your application is the best it can be. Work up your resume this summer - you will have it when you ask you teachers for rec's early this fall before they are tired of writing them.

I think I just may squeeze into the top 10%.

I go to a highly competitive public school, only two public schools in the entire city so my graduating class = 2700+

:)

3.5
4.0
4.17

wat do you think? o_O

3.4 3.7 4.0 ::crosses fingers::

"graduating class = 2700+" ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Are you sure about that?

3.5.. 3.92... 4.0 (hopefully)

my bad, im a retard. about 2700 kids at our school, roughly 700-800 in my graduating class
