<p>Hi all. For my UC essay Prompt #1, I'm going to talk about experimenting with chemistry which got me passionate about chemistry and helped me to decided my major (chemical engineering). I'm specifically going to discuss making small quantities of black powder with store bought KNO3 and sulfur, and home made charcoal. I researched it a little bit and found out that the manufacture of black powder, no matter how little, is illegal. Would it be a bad idea to discuss this information in my college essays?</p>

<p>LOL yeah don’t talk about anything illegal in your college essay. Can you be a little vague and not name exactly what it is? Sounds like a cool essay, good luck</p>

<p>Don’t turn off adcoms. The competition is tough enough already. One of the things they look for is your maturity and judgment- that’s both in what you did and your choice to tell about it.</p>
