Risky Transfer Essay Topic

Hi y’all,

So I’m planning to transfer to a Top Tier university next year, and I plan on writing my essay about how I’ve grown since my high school years. The topic I want to cover, unfortunately is very risky. In 9th and 10th grade, I generally had straight A’s with a couple of B’s here and there. In 11th grade, my grades dipped to straight C’s, which I believe to be the biggest reason why I didn’t get accepted into most of my options. The reason was that I had a pornography addiction which kept me distracted for most of high school academic career.

I am currently a sophomore at UCSD, and I’m past my porn addiction. I have maintained straight A’s, have been very involved on campus, and I feel that I have a different perspective on life and education. I believe I still have room to grow, and to show this transition between two parts of my life, I want to focus on this touchy subject.

The main problem is that this would be admitting to college admissions committees that I engaged in illegal activities (underage porn viewership), which could turn the application upside down. I was hoping to get an expert to help me figure out what I should do. This incident is one of the major factors that got me rejected in the first place, but I want people to know that I am different.

If someone could help me, that would be great.

No. Just no.

Way too many students who had grades drop halfway through high school because of some kind of online addiction are going to be writing about getting over that online addiction and how that changed their lives and how they have a whole new attitude about their education. Find a different topic. Focus on your enthusiasm for your major, for your post-college goals, and what College X or University Y has to offer you that aligns so perfectly with your interests now and your goals.

I think you’re kidding.

This is definitely a hard no.
