RIT Aid Posted on Portal

If you are looking for your aid package, my D’s MyRIT portal posted her financial aid package today. You should check yours.

There is nothing on my daughter’s portal at all …where specifically is it listed ?

It’s at next steps/accept financial aid package. If your daughter was accepted in the past few days it may take several days to post. If she hasn’t gotten her acceptance yet then that comes first. It was a few weeks after we got the package in the mail that the portal changed to accepted.

@lje62 I’ve read about many people who have had a challenge with their MyRIT portal if they filled out the Common App. My D did. After they linked the account to the portal, the page changed to show what documents my D had submitted - On the left side, it should say: “Complete Additional Steps/Requirements” Click on Financial Aid. Her page at first listed the Fafsa as having been accepted, then a couple of “additional steps” - the award showed up yesterday.

If you do not have a list on the left side of the first page which states: “Complete Checklist Items” you should contact the Service Desk to link your account.

Thanks MazeArtCrew , but she hasn’t received a decision in the mail yet. Her portal hasn’t changed a bit since she applied in December. Her admissions rep emailed me that the letters will be mailed " by March 15th " The only thing that looks different is on the page before signing on…it’s a notice with a red X that says " notice for undefined offset " looks like an error to me…I don’t understand the inconsistency between various schools releasing decisions and not others. It is frustrating to say the least.

One thing I have noticed with the Home Page is, the only options for signing onto the portal are either for Students / Faculty and Staff or Prospective students
The option for Admissions Prospective Portal isn’t highlighted as an option to view…can anyone tell me if that changed when their students were accepted ?
It seems like most people say the portal didn’t change until AFTER a letter was received …and everyday, we trudge to the mailbox in hopes of the envelope, big or small

Did any merit aid show up in this section along with financial aid? or Financial Aid only?

We feel your pain to the mailbox in the South. Called the other day and all they could tell us that my son should be notified by March 15th. He sent his RD in mid-December. From talking to some of my admission friends at WFU, seems to think they are rolling notifications. Meaning that when his came it, in went to a pile despite how early he sent it in and will be looked at once they get to his. We shall see. GOOD LUCK.

I was accepted on February 20th (applied in November) and just received my financial aid package today via mail. About a week after my acceptance, I received a notification that I received a $10,000 Achievement scholarship. Then I received my financial aid package about two weeks after I was mailed my acceptance letter. I didn’t check my Portal so I can’t comment on that. My financial aid package is great so I might be attending RIT this fall. Hopefully you won’t have to wait much longer!

My son got a scholarship letter in the regular mail today. So did our neighbor.

Sorry, I’ve been away. From what I read from previous years, RIT releases acceptances by college/majors. So some are released earlier, some later. It is such a big university, that this does make some sense, though is very frustrating if you are one of the ones who hasn’t heard yet. @lje62 my daughter’s portal changed prior to her receiving her decision. We could see that she was accepted. The You might want to call and ask about the “notice for undefined offset.” Perhaps it has something to do with an undefined major? I have read that some majors are highly competitive at RIT, and they will offer an undeclared major opportunity. This is all guess of course. Best of luck!

There really isn’t an alternative major for her within the school she applied to . It is the only major at NTID for hearing students so it’s either a yes or a no. I can’t imagine that they would ask her to call to get bad news , but maybe that is me just splitting hairs on a Sunday when there is no mail delivery and admissions office is closed ?

Phew! Just got merit award letter in mail. Now a serious contender!!

For the life of me, I’ve never understood why people won’t just post a link. https://sis.rit.edu/portalServices/portal.do

@reformedman That’s just a login page. Is that what you intended?

@Tinijocaro That is the login to the precise portal page that will list your financial awards. That’s what this thread is about.

RIT has many different portals (5 that I can find now - one for housing, one for classes, one for finances…) It can be confusing. For any other parents out there, a parent on the Unofficial RIT Facebook page posted this page of RIT Portals on an “Unofficial” Pinterest page:

well, it seems as if I can’t post a linked page to it - the “pin” is number: 566609196846890618/ all the portals are on that page. You can also find it on the Pinterest page: “RIT for Newbies Navigating”

@lje62: I do a little computer programming, and “notice for undefined offset” looks like a technical error message – the web page was trying to display something else but failed. I would call on Monday to see what they can tell you.

Offset defined in geek-speak:
