RIT Class of 2020

Ok, so I guess I can still hope for one. I’m going to be in deep doodoo if I don’t get anything

@anon9362

Sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to you. I had to track down the chronology of correspondence from RIT:

Mid - late October: Applied ED.
11/19: Received letters from RIT and CIAS that they had her application and it was under review
11/26: Received notification that she was accepted (We were quite surprised as this was before the ED application deadline)
12/15: Notified of her selection to receive a Presidential Scholarship. I think we committed the next day.
1/19: Invited to join the RIT Honors Program

I this helps you and any others in their decision-making process.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! I am personally still waiting to hear back. I applied to the Biomedical Engineering program at the end of November. I haven’t heard of anyone hearing back for Biomedical Engineering.

My S was accepted last week for RD in Comp Sci.

3.47 weighted GPA
35 superscore ACT
Only two AP’s (Comp Sci and Psych)
Good extracurriculars, including 4 years or robotics and Project Lead the Way (both of which RIT really likes and has specific scholarships for)
Although his weighted GPA was relatively low, they seemed to like that it was consistently ascending after a relatively rough freshman year
RIT is his first choice, but we could really use some merit aid and haven’t heard back yet.

Good luck everyone.

I was accepted RD for Film and Animation!

The fact that RIT didn’t look at portfolios for this major kinda made me nervous since I felt like my portfolio was a lot stronger than some of my stats, but I got the packet on Saturday!! I won’t be sure I’ll attend until I see if I get any sort of aid, but it’s exciting to get accepted nonetheless : >

stats, if anyone’s interested: 28 ACT, 4.43/5 W GPA, ranked 2/600-ish, APs: Environmental Science (5), Chemistry (4), Lit&Comp (4), Macroeconomics (4), and Studio Art (4). I did a lot of extracurriculars too, but none of them related much to my intended major so I don’t know if they helped or not: choir, theatre, its, nhs, beta, and mu alpha theta

On the my RIT application site, does it say complete when all of the forms are in. My S. just shows all of the materials checked in green and when you click review checklist details it says everything is received. Thanks.

My D’s portal site also just lists everything in green, so we assume everything is received. No news yet on any decision. We are out of state, so maybe the mail is slower. Her stats are a bit better than my S’s were and he is an RIT alum (and one of her choices is in the same college he was in). We’re hopeful but feeling impatient now with everyone else knowing.

In state and was accepted. Notified today via mail

ACCEPTED

Computer engineering technology

SAT 1760
GPA 3.7

I applied at the end of jan and got a brochure in the mail after 2 weeks.

Im not sure if i will attend RIT or not. I just applied for the heck of having more colleges to select from. ^:)^

@lintris, that’s how it appeared for my S too. We checked it after we received is official letter in the mail on Saturday; at that point it had been updated.

D was accepted Graphic Design, does anyone know anything about this program? appreciate any experienced feedback. THX

Still waiting to hear if my son got in. I just spoke to admissions and they said you get the letter first and then the portal is updated. We are from New York waiting to hear if he got into Engineering. He has a 4.00 gpa unweighted 9 AP classes
Act composite 31 math 35 science 34 English 26 reading 28
Is in sports, won science award graduating top 10 percent of his class., honor society ect…This waiting is killing me. I just want all the dessions so we can look at the school so he can make his choice. I have a schedule tour March 12th hope we find out before then.
Anyone else waiting to hear back for engineering?

I got in!
Undeclared at NTID with a $6k scholarship (total)

Congrats @kayrofay. My S is NTID too; same scholarship award.

Glad to hear that your daughter loves the industrial design program at RIT, @Googie31 ! This is a serious contender for my DD. Any more information about what she loves about it would be nice to hear!

@MamaReis I applied for Computer Engineering and still waiting. I’m out of state though.

uh oh D also got accepted to VCUarts. anyone care to compare them with RIT graphic design program?
I know both are ranked well but which one to attend?

Received Acceptance Packet today! Hoping for honors program.

My son just got his acceptance today for mechanical Engineering
31 act 4.00 gpa 9 ap classes top 10 percent of his class

@Pepper17

DD hasn’t been hugely immersed in the ID program yet but she does love school. First semester was spent getting the required fundamental classes completed - Drawing, 2D Design, 3D Design, Intro to Art History and an Honors Seminar that replaced the required Year One course. This semester she has her first ID course, Design Drawing. She is taking an elective Art History course (that required an application and interview) and will be traveling to Italy for spring break with the class.

All ID students are required to participate in RIT’s annual “T-Minus 151” program.

Her team didn’t win (the lead was delayed due to snow) but she had a great time anyway. She’s looking forward to next year.

She has made some great friends already - engineers, honors kids, NTID students other “artists”, the whole gamut. She was involved in stage crew in HS and has gotten involved at RIT which introduced her to another group.

DD recently told me that she knew RIT was the where she wanted to go from the her first visit. We toured the studios with one the professors and she said she could see herself there - loved the studios, loved the design-work, and could see herself working with the students we saw. So far it has worked out wonderfully.
