Thank you for this description @Googie31, it is good to hear such positive experiences!
Does anyone know when we find out if we got into the honors program?
@MamaReis From what it looks like based on last year, honors program notifications will be released in the beginning of April.
DS was accepted to computer science – he got his letter in the mail on 2/20 and got notified of presidential scholarship on 2/27 (a week later). No word on honors yet. 34 ACT; 4.2 W GPA, 8 APs.
I got into the Mechanical Engineering program. I am an out of state girl. My parents are so excited for me and are sending me on this WE Retreat. I remember coming home and they were freaking out because I got a big letter. Immediately, I started looking at classes and housing for Michigan State. I don’t know what to tell my parents.

16k presidential scholarship!
@anon9362 , how did you find out about the scholarship?
I got my acceptance like a week ago with no other info, and then today I got a second letter in the mail from the financial aid office with the presidential scholarship
I was really afraid I wasn’t going to get one since it didn’t come with my acceptance, so don’t lose hope
No decision yet on admission yet, but did get an email with links to register for accepted student open house. Mean anything?
For those hoping to hear about scholarship information, we got a separate letter in the mail about a week after the admissions letter. To date, nothing has been posted online.
I just got scholarship information today too! It was about a week from when I got my acceptance but RIT’s giving me the achievement scholarship.
My DD got a presidential scholarship today as well.
d got scholarship info yesterday 8,500 per year… Comparing to VCUarts. among others.
anyone opinions on RIT graphic design vs VCU?
I got the presidential scholarship a few days ago! Does anyone know when honors invitations will be coming?
Financial Aid awards is now on portal. My son got 16K Presidential and only 1.5K in RIT grant. Our EFC is not very high so this was disappointing. I guess RIT will not happen.
I saw mine, I got 16k presidential scholarship and a 6k grant, but a lot of loans
S received a 16K Presidential award, and now the financial aid page lists $5500 in loans and $2800 Federal work study. Our out-of-pocket cost is $29,402, which will be impossible since my husband has been unemployed since last July. At least it makes it easy to take RIT off the list.
I Was Accepted, and this means so much that i have been giving a second chance at my life long learning objective.
Advice for every one, write a very good entrance essay even if you already sent one in. Be honest and tell the truth of why you want to go, and all your characteristics that will make you an outstanding candidate. Show your passion with self study in the technology field. Projects outside of formal school can help. Such as engineering forums and projects you have done that were never required by anyone. Proof read it so many times that it is a speech stuck in your head. Have your parents or loved ones proof read it. Getting others input can do nothing but improve your work.
Mine was over 3 pages, this was on top of the other required writing assignments in the application. This could help your son or daughter increase their funding amount if they did this.
I did not do the greatest in high school. It was under 3.0 GPA, not happy to say the actual grade because im too afraid to look. I Never took SAT or ACT. I am a transfer student from a school but i don’t expect many classes to transfer in. I am a little older than than a freshman student but i have matured and changed from what i was in high school. Show your maturity every one will appreciate that in a possible student.
I have paid my dues and will be fully funded to go to school with none of it coming out of my pocket. Leaving my 65k a year job to go back to school is a tough decisions but it is a short term sacrifice that my family will make.
Good luck to every one!!! I think my decision took 2-3 weeks.
My S is still anxiously awaiting his decision. He applied the beginning of November for Computer Science. He is surprised he hasn’t heard anything yet. Is there still a lot of students still waiting to hear? He told me admissions sent him an email saying he should hear on or before 3/16.
The financial aid award showed up online for me today! But even combined with the other scholarship I can’t really afford it so I’ll have to wait to hear back from other schools…
