I have been selected for a Masters in Mech Engg in RIT. Can someone advise whether it a good college and a good program.

It is a technical university and the programs are perfectly fine. If it is a professional Masters, then there will be no thesis or research and you will likely be expected to self-fund. Make sure that you are able to afford it.

Thanks. Are you also doing the same course from RIT? What are the chances of a placement after post grad? I have read about RIT on the net and most reviews say it’s a tier 3 college so I’m a bit concerned. How well is it recognised in academic and professional circles? Please help.

No, I am a professor of physics at Illinois Institute of Technology, which along with RIT is an AITU member institution. Lots of people know of RIT and rankings are not always a good measure of the value of academic programs. The question that you have to ask the university is how is their placement after graduation. What kind of jobs are their students hired for and so on. You might find that RIT graduates get hired predominantly in a geographic location or perhaps they go all over.

Thank you for the information. Much appreciated.
