RIT or Missouri Univ. of Science & Tech

I am in a bit of a confusion whether to join RIT (Rochester Institute of Tech.) or Missouri University of Science & Tech.
Ranking and academic wise Missouri outdoes RIT. I have many of my friende studying or passed RIT but none from Missouri Univ.
So could someone help me out whether which university is better and in what way.

Neither is “better” in any universal, objective way. It depends on what you are looking for.

RIT is larger and broader, Missouri S&T is smaller and more focused. Do you prefer the suburbs of Rochester or small-town Rolla? I believe coop is more formal at RIT. What do you plan to study? Where are you from? Is there a price difference?

I’m also curious as to how Mo S&T stacks up to public tech schools in general, or just the comparasign of the aerospace engineering program?

I want to pursue my masters in Electrical Engg. As far I have heard, Missouri Univ. of science & tech stands out academic wise even though it is not as reputed in comparison to RIT. I am from India. There is a price difference of 10,000$ in the tuition fee.

Thats good to hear. I live in Missouri and I was looking for a good engineering school (preferably affordable) and I was trying to think of better options other than just SLU. I’m not entirely sure what it means, but it seems MoS&T only has a 4-year graduation rate of 26%… is this bad?

What is their 6 year rate? Do students there do co-ops? Those mess up 4 year grad rate numbers.

Would your masters program be thesis-based? What is your objective in pursuing this?

The low four-year undergrad grad rate (not relevant to the OP) isn’t too surprising for a not-too-selective, engineering-focused school. The 6-year rate is 67%.

You are probably looking at their acceptance rate. Missouri University of Science and Technology is very selective with an average SAT (CR+M) 1250 whereas RIT has an average SAT (CR+M) of only 1200.

Please look at the cost of room and board too. There is 15k total price difference.

I think you should pick Missouri. Its much cheaper and has higher average freshman stats. Their engineering programs are comparable and I don’t think you will find any difference in education.

One of the disadvantages of choosing a ‘tech’ school is that it doesn’t have a lot of majors available.

I think the grad rate is typical for an tech school with interquartile ACT scores of 26-31. You can call that whatever you want.

I don’t think that is an issue for a graduate student.
