I find it very strange, even off-putting, that in this day and age, a technical university notifies its applicants via snail mail.

Nothing about any kind of aid in the packet my daughter received in the mail. Mentioned the 3/1 deadline for FAFSA. (Our FAFSA was submitted on 1/31 so I guess it’s just boilerplate.)

Just received the acceptance packet. Of course my son is at an Orchestra trip to Iowa so I can’t open it. But I think I can read through the packet cover. hehe

Has anyone been accepted to any Engineering Depts. yet? I believe they may be unique in reviewing apps through the individual colleges rather than en masse through admissions. At least I seem to recall this, and that may be why there is a prolonged period of notification. Any thoughts or comments from those accepted are appreciated.

Accepted RD to physics today :)

GamerGal27, my daughter’s packet had a cover letter dated 2/18 (I could see the date) and a folder inside. Unlike the zillions of mailings I got from RIT, this one was marked First Class Mail. I brought it to the airport when I picked my kid up and when she first got into the car, she told me she didn’t think the envelope was fat enough. But it was!

My son was accepted into mechanical engineering. To answer an earlier post, there was no mention of merit aid in the acceptance packet.

My S got into the Game Design major! Whew!

Assuming your packet is what you think it is @Gamergal27 , we’ll have to compare notes.

Shhh… Don’t tell my son but I very carefully opened up the packet, read it and then sealed it up again. He has been accepted to the Game Design program! Now we just have to wait for USC (March 29th) and RPI (March 8th) as well as all the FA letters. He is declining DePaul and Drexel for certain.

My son was also accepted for mechanical engineering. No mention of merit aid, as well.

My son was also accepted for mechanical engineering with no mention of merit aid. Anyone have any mention of Honors program acceptances? I would have thought my son would qualify, though perhaps not. His ACT is 35 but his class rank is only top 10%. (ACT is well above their 75%ile but class rank below the 25%ile – not sure which they weight more)

Here’s the page with the stats for honors:
https://www.rit.edu/academicaffairs/honors/admission.php

@oldmom4896 that’s what I was referencing when saying my son’s rank is low but his ACT is high.

@gamergal27 your secret is safe with us! We’re also waiting for Drexel and RPI. Didn’t bother trying USC – but we know someone in that program who thinks it is awesome.

@crowlady Drexel gave him a decent scholarship of $16,500 and their honors program but the gap is still huge. Plus my son is not a fan of city colleges.

gamergal27, when I was waiting for my daughter to emerge from the airport terminal to receive her fat envelope, she texted me to ask if I opened said envelope. I texted back, “no, because I am sure you would kill me.” Glad I didn’t have to test that out.

S got big envelope today - accepted and like most others that have posted, no mention of financial aid

@oldmom4896 So funny! Did you tell her you knew one Mom that opened and resealed the packet?

Accepted to Computer Science at RIT! SO happy, it’s my first acceptance letter.

Congratulations! @Ratedroy95
