Hi ,

I have completed my high school this year, and have got admission for fall session into RIT,University of Illinois (UC) and Ohio State University for a chemical engineering undergrad program.

While I know University of Illinois is very highly reputed in terms of ranking, it also turns out to be a relatively more expensive affair. Would you know of any co-op system in the university where i might be able to fund my education ,say in the 3rd or 4th year. In which case i might be able to consider this option.

Coming to RIT and Ohio- I have recieved a $10,000 scholorship from RIT, which makes it a very tempting offer to take, however am not sure of how great a place it is. Which would you recommend between Ohio and RIT in that case?

Would appreciate your guidance at the earliest

Thanks

Pay the extra money and go to Illinois. ChemE is brand new at RIT, isn’t it? Illinois!!!

What can you afford and what can’t you?

I would take Ohio State over RIT and if you can’t afford Illinois, I would go to Ohio State.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions.

RIT and Ohio are still within my budget. Illinois would turn out to be more expensive. However if there is any co-op system where i could fund a part of the education, i would still want to go ahead with Illinois.

Would anyone know of any system as such?

I would not plan on co-op funding your education. Ohio State is an excellent engineering school. Go there.

I would suggest University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign though you have already identified as the school not being affordable ( or expensive) so my second suggestion would be Ohio state University.

Ohio State.

Great academically and socially.

My son as accepted to RIT and hated it upon visiting. Neither he or my husband were impressed. This was a surprise, and obviously, just their opinion. Also, consider that it is common at RIT to spend 5 years there, so add that on to the cost.

Ohio State. Big Ten school with lots going on. I give it high votes for academics and socially.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions… I have at least zeroed in on Ohio State and illnois for the time being!
