I've been accepted to three schools for electrical engineering:

Rochester Institute of Technology
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
University of Minnesota

I would like to go to RPI, but I don't think I will be able to afford it. Given the choice between the U of M and RIT, which do you think would be better?

I would go with whichever one is cheaper. Seriously. Do you have your FA packages so that you know what the costs are for your family?
If both options cost the same, then go based on fit. Do you want to be on a suburban campus, with fewer students, co-op program, not great male/female ratio, with a nerdier vibe - then RIT.

They are both fine schools and you will get a great education at either one. Employers hire from both.

Here I am - still deciding. I finally got all my financial aid stuff together, here are the approximate costs per year for attending each school:
RPI: 41,396
RIT: 27,852
U of M: 25,000

I still want to go to RPI, but I know the U of M is probably the responsible choice to make. In your opinion, is RPI $16,000 better than the University of Minnesota?
