Road to the MCAT

I currently am a bio student about to start Junior year next fall. I started my college career as an engineer, but switched to biology sophomore year for Bio/Premed. I am on track to graduate still. What I am not on track for is MCAT. I have Gen Chem 1 and 2 and Bio 1 and 2. But I wasn't able to take a lab for chem 2 and now I can't get into organic until my spring semester. The
Does that put me back another semester until after two semesters of organic before I can even take the MCAT?

The road to med school is a marathon, not a sprint.

And given the competitive nature of med school admissions, I strongly recommend that you do not sit for the MCAT until you are fully prepared for it. That includes completely all necessary preparatory coursework before taking it. (Yes, that means taking 2 semesters of Ochem AND biochem first.)

Beginning in 2015, there will be a new MCAT. The new MCAT will include biochemistry (up 1/3 of the questions in the biological sciences section will be biochem), as well as statistics (included in all sections) and an entirely new section called the Psychological, Social and Biological Foundations of Behavior.

If you have not already taken introductory level courses in psychology and sociology, you may want to add those to your list MCAT prep classes.
