road trips, hostels, adventures, and independent college visits!

Hello CCers!

It has been a huge dream of mine to travel around the East Coast (I'm from Minnesota) before I finish high school, but my parents have no interest in doing so.

Have any of you heard of any way of traveling as a minor independently? I'd love to stay at hostels and travel by train or something like that, but I am finding that many hostels require you to be 18.

Does anyone know how I might be able to travel like this? I don't know ANYONE outside of the Midwest!

While on an East Coast trip with my dad, I found that most hotels (~80%) won’t check if you’re 18. You could always sleep in your car/tent and find public showers, but if I were you, I’d just wait until I was 18 (or find a friend who is).

i’d recommnd this. travelling alone seems a little risky?! idk. go with a good friend who also wants to do this, and is preferably 18+. quite a few seniors are 18 right?

Live on the edge! Haha, yeah I could go with a senior, but most students my grade won’t turn 18 until August of next year.

I’ve been wanting to travel around the whole U.S. coast in general haha…bump 10 char
