In early June this year I got a letter from the California Student Aid Commission that I was being offered this scholarship. Have not heard from them since. Has any one been offered this scholarship and when can you expect to get the money. The scholarship is supposed to be disbursed each semester. The money would really help me.

my guess is that some people might refuse a scholarship named after an ex Klan member

it takes forever for the money to go through but it eventually does. Last year it took until like December for fall semester. if you want, you can call the california student aid commission to check that they've got the right address and all that.

I was awarded the Robert C. Byrd Scholarship but the school hasn't received it either. I emailed the CSAC (california student aid commission) and they said that funds will be sent in November.

"my guess is that some people might refuse a scholarship named after an ex Klan member"

Does that make you feel better to say that? good for you. You certainly are a better person for it aren't you?

The Byrd's are a little slow in process as they are usually handled by each state's department of education.

While Mr Citation X can certainly look down his/her nose at a four year scholarship worth $6000, not many people can. It has helped ours pay for college and we are very thankful for it. Mayby someone trying to make up for a past mistake isn't worth much to a perfect person like Citation X, but even George Wallace realized he was wrong about the past. But that's Ok Citation you continue to fight the good fight.

I think the Byrd is slow every year, not just your first year, so plan accordingly for your finances.
