They were clearly providing services beyond “massage.” That clearly is illegal and so, no, I wouldn’t patronize such a place. The only massage places I have ever patronized had people massage customers with no “extras.”
@cbreeze I’m not sure what you are getting at when you point out that they did not observe any sexual intercourse. If these women were being forced to perform any sex act, and it is pretty obvious that they did not have any choice, it doesn’t matter if the intercourse is vaginal or oral. It is still a horrible ordeal for them. Rape is rape, and if they were being held as sex slaves as it seems now, they were being raped many times every day.
Then, you need to start investigating your restaurants closer. There are lots of restaurants where the dishwashers couldn’t speak English, don’t own a car, and their illegal immigration to the country was facilitated directly or indirectly by the business owners.
^^
I no longer go to our local Chinese buffet and encourage others not to go either. The “employees” all live together in a row house down the block from my church. They are transported to and from work in a delivery van.
“Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, where two women were arrested earlier this week…identified as Lei Wang, 40, and Hua Zhang, 59.”
If these two madams are not citizens, they should be deported after serving their sentences.
And the usual suspects will start posting to make their viewpoints known.
Let’s leave aside the nasty trafficking issue (which separates this from regular prostitution, imho) and just look at what happened. It doesn’t make any sense to me. Maybe I’m naive or something but I always assumed that the ultra-rich like Kraft ($6B) who wanted to engage in this sort of activity would do so in an elite private/members-only club. Or, someone like that would arrange for elite “masseuses” on their yacht for “parties”. I just can’t imagine a freaking billionaire going to a cheap strip mall massage parlor in public. I don’t get it.
Anyone who is charged/convicted of a crime who is not a citizen should be deported. Regardless of race, creed or religion. But that’s not the issue here
Robert Kraft was supposedly above all and one of the most decent owners of a professional sports owners. Didn’t his wife pass away a few years ago and all of his employees provide testimonials about how he was a wonderful family man?
Agreed, with that slight change. We really need to be showing all non-citizen criminals the door.
I’m going to disagree with anyone convicted being deported. I think deportation is right in most cases but not all. In this type of case, the prostitutes are sometimes convicted of sex crimes multiple times, even though they are coerced into the sex. The prosecutors have to be able to let them stay in the US to get their testimony and cooperation building these cases. In some cases, they have been brought to the US by criminal cartels which operate in their home countries and in the US. If they testify against the people trafficking them in the US and then face deportation, they are facing probable execution by the cartel as soon as they get home.
Prosecutors recognize this and sometimes plea deals for prostitutes who will testify against those trafficking them include protection against deportation.
As for Kraft…his wife died in 2011. I don’t condone his conduct AT ALL, but I don’t think the fact he hired prostitutes in 2019 means he did so while his wife was alive.
He does have a 39 year old girlfriend, but she gave birth to a child a year or two ago and he has denied paternity, so it doesn’t seem as if the relationship is exclusive on either side.
The trafficked persons can also apply for amnesty and petition to stay in the US. There are groups that help them.
I don’t think the posts above were about deporting the workers but the madams.
It’s not against any rules to dine in a restaurant. In contrast, sexual acts for money or other gain are illegal, for the most part. Even Nevada has constraints.
For me, just another reason to be done with the NFL. They have needed to clean up their organization for years holding their members accountable for their behavior. Most ordinary people would lose their jobs for the things those in the NFL have engaged in.
An article I read about the FLA Spa made it quite clear that this was not “just prostitution” but trafficking. Makes my stomach turn.
When all is said and done, this certainly wasn’t the “happy ending” Kraft expected.
There is more than one billionaire caught up in this.
John Childs, of the eponymous Boston private equity firm, was allegedly arrested, and also allegedly charged was the former President of Citigroup, John Havens (not likely a billionaire, but legitimately the top 0.01%). ZH got the screenshots of the mugshot sheet (since scrubbed from the Vero Beach PD site): https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-02-22/wall-street-legends-identified-florida-prostitution-sting
Plenty of Wall Streeters with homes near Jupiter Inlet, so perhaps Orchids of Asia was a bit of a “hidden gem” among the moneyed.
Is there any wonder that the rich feel that they are entitled?I also heard this news yesterday and apparently our labor secretary had a role in it which I am sure helped him get to where he is today, off the suffering of the young teen girls. So disgusting!

i’m not bothered by men paying for sex from consenting adults. I am disgusted by men paying for sex from underage and/or coerced people of all genders who are not willing participants and that is what this “spa” appears to consist of. Based on the description I heard on TV about this particular facility, I highly doubt that any of the sex workers went there willingly. It was said that a number of the women believed they were coming to the US to be nannies or other legitimate jobs. I get that many people will say they were “trapped” or coerced to escape a prostitution charge, but it should be fairly easy for a trained investigator/interrogator to parse out.
As for Kraft, let’s say that I think Tom Brady is a cheater (at football, I have no clue about his personal life) and that he did it with Kraft’s knowledge and assent.
I see a number of “usual suspects”, with differing viewpoints. Are you against all of them, or simply the ones you disagree with?
And let’s not forget a certain President and his escapades aboard the Lolita Express and on a private island with financier Jeffrey Epstein - all only alleged of course
What are we supposed to do? Parrot other people’s viewpoints?
