Can any current Duke students provide some insight into the Robertson process? When should we hear back if we made it past the first round? How many rounds are there? Is it more beneficial if you applied to Duke ED and were accepted? Thank you for any and all insight.
I’d also love to hear from any of you who also applied!
It is my understanding that semi-finalist notification will occur mid-February. I guess there is a phone or Skype interview after that. Finalist notification is early March. The Interview weekend is March 28-30th. I don’t know if you learn there whether you are selected or you are notified in early April.
Timeline
November 15 – Robertson application deadline
Mid-February – Semifinalist notification
Late February – Semifinalist interviews, via video chat or phone
Early March – Finalist notification
March 28-30 – Finalist Weekend in North Carolina
Early April – Offers made

Do I have to apply Early Decision/Early Action or Regular Decision in order to be considered for the Robertson?
You may apply either Early Decision or Regular Decision to Duke, or Early Action or Regular Decision to UNC-Chapel Hill. As long as you apply for first-year undergraduate admission to one or both of these universities, you are eligible to apply for the Robertson.
I was accepted to UNC as OOS a couple weeks ago, but I was not invited to scholarship weekend nor their honors program. Does this mean that I am most likely not going to make it to the next round for Robertsons? I realize the scholarship is separate from the university, but I was just wondering. Thanks!
@damnan1022 (re post #6): No one can say with certainty. However, I’d guess – 100 percent speculation – that you may not make the next Robertson cut, only because it seems likely that the criteria for Scholarship Weekend attendance and for the Honors Program would be less demanding.
Does anyone know if they only notify the semifinalists, or they send the rejection emails as well? If anyone got invited, please post so we can figure out when the notifications are out.
UNC is bound by limitations on OOS vs IS students whereas Robertson is not, so while I agree with Top Tier’s logic re: the criteria for UNC’s scholarship weekend being less demanding than Robertson’s selection criteria, it might not follow that Robertson’s first cut is the higher hurdle for OOS students.
This reminds me of an old summer camp song…“Here we sit like birds in the wilderness, birds in the wilderness, birds in the wildernesss. Here we sit like birds in the wilderness waiting for the …”
Hey guys - current Duke student here - just wanted to tell you guys, good luck!
In case this process doesn’t work out, or if you forgot to apply, you can still apply for the Robertsons as a first year freshman at Duke/UNC, and just 2 days ago, they notified the first years of those who were quarterfinalists (yes, not semifinalists haha…it gets very competitive!).
