Robertson Scholars

nckid101, if you only applied to UNC, and not Duke, it is possible that UNC letters did not go out the same day as Duke. Also, did you not already get another UNC scholarship?

Did anyone get notified via e-mail?

Did everyone who was notified also get a likely letter?

jellybean24- As far as I know all finalists were notified via mail and not email. The letter they sent serves as a likely letter. They have a paragraph saying that barring any personal or academic problems you can expect to be accepted in April.

So do next-day deliveries ALWAYS arrive the next day? Even to the west coast?

I would hold my breath if it was USPS because they are famous for not holding 100% of the time their promise on 2 day deliveries (that's why there is no guarantee). However, they sent the letters via FedEx with a huge yellow sticker on the top that said "For Saturday Delivery". Given the urgency of these letters it doesn't surprise me at all that they were sent next day via FedEx. Why? Because FedEx is extremely reliable and never if ever delays orders (unless random acts of God occur).

Good point. I was actually asking for a friend who was interested in getting a scholarship.

SevenNights + other semifinalists- Did you get a letter today about Duke UpClose? I did, and I'm not sure whether to RSVP for it or not. It's April 3-5, while the Roberston Finalist interviews are April 2-5. And you have to RSVP for UpClose before we'd find out if we made finalist. I don't really want to call... I've had some bad experiences with the Duke admissions office in the past :-P.

as of today I haven't received anything from duke. however, i live in new england so it might take an extra day or two in the mail. i think from NC to Ohio is much shorter than from NC to New England. ill see if i get anything in the mail in the next two days or so and then update everyone.

I called today. They told me to register for Duke Up Close, and that they'd switch me over to Robertson Finalist weekend if I qualify (they're they same weekend). Do you know if there are 120 total semifinalists, or 120 semifinalists per school? I was thinking the latter, but some info on the web site made me thing the former. If so, that's pretty awesome odds: 1/4!

120 total. 60 from each school.

good luck to everyone during their interviews. we will hear back from the Robertson Scholars committee on March 10, 2005.

Mine went well (10 am time slot)! Have you had yours Seven Nights? Good luck, if you haven't yet.

how ironic. i had mine at 10 too.

I think I may have accidentally stumbled on a way to find out if you made it as a finalist. Go here: http://admprosapp2.admissions.unc.edu/robertson/scholar_login.asp (if you haven't previously asked to receive your Username and Password then click at the bottom where it says "Registered but forgot your Username and/or Password? If so, click here to have us email it to you." Once you have your Username and Password log in.

I get this message when I log in:
Welcome Robertson Scholars Finalists!
Click here for the Finalists' Discussion Forum.

My question then becomes does everyone have this message on their log in screen? Or only those who survived the 120 to 90 cut?

I click on the message board and there is only one message that says:

**Hi everyone!

Congratulations on being selected a finalist (I guess you'll hear very soon from now) for the Robertson Program.

It's an amazing program - in fact, I'm sad I'm about to graduate from it! On top of that, the Finalist weekend is really fun too. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Of course, you're welcome to contact me with any questions about the program. My email is @duke.edu, and my aim sn is ******, when I'm on.

Best,

Duke Robertson Scholar, Class of 2005**

Seven Nights, you l33t h4x0r! I'm waiting right now for my username + password to come.

EDIT: I just logged in, and I got the "Welcome Finalists" message! Woo!

Just to clarify I am not a hacker. I just logged onto the webpage and I got that message. No illegal actions were involved in any way shape or form. No one should get the wrong idea and infer this on the same level as the MBA hacking scandal that erupted a few days ago with the MBA applicants to Harvard, Duke, Stanford, and MIT (over on the BusinessWeek forums).

I was kidding about the hacker thing! Don't hurt Seven Nights, DMCA police!

You never know. Crazy things happen.

it doesnt mean you are in. it doesnt mean u arent, either. It does mean you have to wait till the fed-ex arrives. lovely how things work out, isnt it?

as justforgetme said if you weren't selected as a finalist why would they put that screen for you on your homepage? they would get into huge legal problems if they did. my theory is that they have uploaded those who were clear admits and will be debating up till the last minute and sometime tomorrow they will finalize their decisions and overnight fed-ex the packages for arrival on thursday.

once again folks best of luck
