Robertson Semi-Finalists

Yes, you're probably freaked out now.

When are they going to email the semifinalists?! No one has gotten an email yet, since the 2016 Facebook group has been silent on the issue.

Argh, this is so nervewracking.

I emailed my regional representative last week, and she told me that they could send out email notifications as early as one week before the deadline or as late as a few days after the deadline. Since the deadline is March 1st, it can be anytime from this Thursday up to March 2nd or 3rd. I’m praying day and night for it since I didn’t get a likely letter.

I already got into Duke so that worry is done, but I have wanted Robertson for so long…plus, I really need the money.

Thanks for your information, though!

How many people get through to the first stage?

thank you for freaking me out…

Robertson semi-finalists were just emailed this evening, like an hour ago, fyi.

I just got the semi-finalist email. Do they send out separate emails for Duke and UNC? My email says I’m a semi-finalist for UNC- does this mean I’m out of the running for Duke (my top choice… but I still love UNC so I’m not complaining!)?

I received the semi-finalist email for Duke University!! Can’t wait for the interview :). Does this mean anything in terms of admissions??

I have the same question as Aleutia.

I did not apply to the Robertson Scholars (didn’t even know about it) but was just emailed informing me that I’m a semi-finalist. I’m thrilled, by the way, but does this honor “mean anything in terms of admissions?” as Aleutia put it.

@ Axel3419

Congrats on being named a semi-finalist. However, how in the world are you a “semi-finalist” if you never applied to the Robertson Scholars Program?

I have no idea, honestly. I think maybe they screen all Duke applications for potential Robertson Scholars?

Regardless, congrats to you! Hope you move along in the process!

Every applicant is considered automatically for both Robertson and AB Duke scholarship.

I applied to both Duke and the Robertson Scholarship but I haven’t received an email. Does this mean I’m not a semi-finalist?

has anyone gotten an email from unc?

All applicants to Duke are considered for the AB Duke, and a few other full tuition merit scholarships

The Robertson Scholars Program required a separate application (https://my.robertsonscholars.org/admissions/selectionprocess</a>) with three supplemental essays, and an additional letter of recommendation, all submitted by December 1. It’s strange that someone would be considered for that program without having completed the application.

The Robertson Scholars Program recommended that you fill out the separate application…but that was to guarantee that the committee would look at your application to consider you for Robertson. The Duke admissions committee probably forwards outstanding applications by people who may not have filled out the supplemental application for Robertson to the Robertson Scholars Committee though.

congrats to everyone who has been notified!

does anybody know if all of the emails already went out?

@geefizz- I got the UNC semifinalist email yesterday. I guess I’m out of the running for Duke Robertson though. I completed the supplement.

Hey!
I’ve been notified that I’m a semifinalist for the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program as well. In fact, I didn’t apply to this separately (and i actually didn’t even know about this scholarship, I only knew about A.B). I believe, deducing from my conversation with the Robertson Scholars Rep, that all applicants to Duke are considered for both the A.b and the Robertson, and if th admissions commitee feels that your application is outstanding, they will forward it to the Robertson and A.B committees. These are separate commitees, apart from Duke Admissions.

But my question is, am I accepted to Duke? Because I know friends who got similar notifications from Wash-U. Some of my friends applied to various scholarship programs at Wash-U, and then they were notified a couple of days ago that they were finalists for the program, and that “they would receive their Wash-U official Class of 2016 admissions packet” in a few weeks. Apparently, that means that they’re into Wash-U regular undergrad, and beyond that a finalist for that program that they have specially applied for.

So I assumed that it would be the same for Duke. It doesn’t make sense to me, that Duke and UNC would forward “brilliant” applicants for these prestigious scholarships, if they weren’t qualified enough to come to Duke in the first place. In my mind, it’s safe to say that semifinalists for these scholarships constitute the cream of the applicant, so it doesn’t make sense to me either that being in the top cream, and considered for these scholarships, that semifinalists would not be accepted to Duke or UNC. I can imagine many people who aren’t Robertson scholars get in, but I guess it’s just hard for me to imagine that Robertson scholars semifinalists wouldn’t be in. I mean, it seems to me that since the Duke admissions committee has forwarded applicants to these scholarships, the applicants must have stood out in the first place. If someone who has received or knows something more about this scholarship, then I was hoping I could get an answer: are semifinalists for these scholarships automatically accepted to Duke?
