When do we get notified if we won the scholarship?

I don't think you "win" the scholarship outright...there is a weekend of interviews, etc. if you are selected as a finalist by one or both schools. I'm not sure when they notify you of that, but I think the Robertson interviews are in April/May.

OMFG, are you serious? I don't want to do another ing interview in another *ing state. *!!! Why the * can't they just look at your application and say "you're a roberston scholar!! Yeah." ***!!!!! I hate DUke.

Yeah, their $120,000 gift requires an expenses-paid two day visit. Bah!

Did you already hear for round one?

It says that those who advance in the selection will be called in late february...so, has anyone been called yet? Good luck to all who applied.

Selection Calendar:

December 1, 2005 - Supplemental Materials form due.

December 2005 through January 2006 - The Robertson Scholars Program reviews Supplemental Materials forms and requests applications from Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill admissions.

January through February, 2006 - The Robertson Scholars Program reviews requested Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill admission applications as well as other applications forwarded by the two admissions offices.

February 24, 2006 - 120 semifinalists selected and invited to participate in phone interviews

March 4-5, 2006 - Each semifinalist participates in a twenty-minute phone interview

March 9, 2006 - Semifinalists are notified of phone interview results. Ninety finalists are invited to attend Finalists' Weekend on the Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill campuses

April 1-4, 2006 - Finalists' Weekend

April 7, 2006 - Finalists notified of interview results. Approximately 40 students are invited to join the Robertson Scholars Program with the goal of enrolling approximately 30 new Scholars -- 15 at Duke and 15 at UNC-Chapel Hill

April 15, 2006 - Deadline for students accepting the invitation from the Robertson Scholars Program

So, people should have heard today ... and I have yet to hear ... but on the FAQ part of the official site, it says something along the lines of "If you have not heard by March 1, 2006, then you have not been selected," as in they are not going to officially reject the people who do not get in. They are just not going to respond to them / maybe myself included. I assume this is because of the sheer number of applicants, but it is a little nervewracking.

SO did you have to send in the supplemental materials in order to be considered? And does anyone know how they contact us (phone, emial, snail mail)?

They sent e-mails when the supplemental applications was submitted. You would think they'd notify semi-finalist via e-mail...I guess if I don't hear by March 1, that's it for me I guess...:(

""If you have not heard by March 1, 2006, then you have not been selected," as in they are not going to officially reject the people who do not get in"

ha. how wishy washy.

I've been anxiously lurking these forums the past few days to see if anyone else had been notified. I'm proud to be the first to post regarding receipt of semi-finalist notification. I received the following message via e-mail this evening:

"Dear [first name]:

Congratulations! You have been chosen as one of 150 semi-finalists for the Robertson Scholars Program. This year's semifinalists were chosen from a record number of applicants to Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Early next week you will receive a letter, which was sent via Federal Express (FedEx), giving more information about the Robertson Scholars Program and about the next stage of our selection process, a phone interview with a representative of the Robertson Scholars Program. The package you will receive contains information about our program and gives detailed instructions on how to schedule your phone interview. If you have not received this package by Tuesday, February 28, please call xxx at (xxx) xxx-xxxx to schedule your phone interview and have your packaged tracked or re-sent.

Again, I send you my warmest congratulations on being chosen as a semi-finalist. Please feel free to contact our office by replying to this email or by calling (xxx) xxx-xxxx if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Dr. Eric Mlyn, Ph.D.
Director, Robertson Scholars Program"

congrats techwiz!

guess I wasn't selected as a semifinalist :( I really was interested & put much effort into the application.

Best of luck!

btw, can you share your stats

congrats!

i'm really disappointed because without a scholarship, the chances of me going to duke is practically zilch.

seconded on the stats.

I got the semifinalist email today. I'm shocked, this may be the only thing to convince me not to attend my ea school, but only if I actually get finalist.
So I get the impression that if you applied to only one school (in my case, Duke), the "UNC" part of it is kind of irrelevant?

icefalcon7:
you make me convinced there's a correlation between likely letters and schoships. :]

i know i'm basing my conclusions on anecdotal knowledge. but BAH.

I recieved a likely letter from Duke but no e-mail about the Robertson scholarship :(

I applied to both UNC and Duke, and already have a full scholarship from UNC and a likely letter from Duke. I just received the Robertson Scholars email..do you think it is for enrollment at Duke or UNC?

I just got the e-mail for Robertson...

Also received a likely letter from Duke.
