ashesinthefall- Each school is allowed to pick applicants, so you may have gotten picked twice! :p If you already have a full scholarship to Chapel Hill, it's probably from Duke, but email them to be sure.

I know I have posted this in a new thread - but would be glad if you could reply:

I have been selected as a semi-finalist. Regardless of what happens with the RSP, does it mean that I will likely get an acceptance letter from Duke, if I did not apply to RSP but the Duke admissions committee forwarded it to RSP?

Thanks.

i'm a semi-finalist too. this may sound stupid, but how do you know if you are nominated through unc or duke? the email address i received my letter from was @unc.edu? Does that mean anything or not?

you should have recieved/will receive a Fed Ex package telling you who nominated you, querida

i got it right after i posted. thanks, though. :-)

Was it for UNC or Duke? I'm wondering if UNC sent out emails for the Robertson since most of the people posting applied to Duke.

When you received your FedEx info, was it UNC or Duke?

Dear querida,

What does it say on the letter? Does it say likely admission to Duke? Can you quote, if possible?

Thanks,

Brit

sorry, guys, i'm a unc nominee. and yes, unc sends out emails for the robertson; i got mine around 5:30 PM on friday. here's what the letter says:

"Dear (me),

Congratulations! Based on the credentials and accojmplishements represented in your application to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, you have been chosen as one of 150 semi-finalists for the Robertson Scholars Program. We invite you to participate in a phone interview on the weekend of March 4-5, 2006. After these interviews, we will identify 100 finalists who will be invited to our Finalists' Weekend, to be held April 1-4, 2006."

it goes on to elaborate more about the program but gives no admissions-type indicaitons... i already got into UNC early action and am awaiting a response from duke... do you guys think that being a robertson semi-finalist might boost my chances for duke admission, even if i am nominated through UNC?

thanks!

querida might join the dark side. :'(

BTW, the phone interview is the same weekend as the Duke-UNC game. If they ask, tell them you're rooting for UNC (although we know you're rooting for Duke). :p

I obviously have no way of judging, but it probably does indicate a good chance at admission. Top students at UNC = top students at Duke.

actually i will be rooting for duke! :-) but surely i won't express that over the phone... i have mine scheduled for either 10, 10:30, or 11 AM on sunday, so we'll see how it goes!

good luck, everyone else.

Dear querida,

When did you receive your package? I'm still waiting for mine.

Did we actually have to apply for this scholarship or are we automatically considered?

You're automatically considered. However, you have the option of submitting a supplement for it (due December 1, I think).

Hi everyone! Congrats to those of you who made it as semi-finalists! It's a great honor.

I went through the whole Robertson process last year + had an amazing time. Loved the program + the people, but at the end decided it wasn't for me.

If you ever want an outsider's viewpoint on the Robertson, or want someone to talk to about Harvard/Yale/Stanford vs. Robertson, please feel free to PM/email me. I also know a lot of the current scholars, but I'm sure Dr. Mlyn will put you in touch with them!

Good luck with the interviews!

I haven't received a Robertson letter yet, but I applied to Duke and got a likely letter. Has Duke sent their Robertson letters yet?

I just received an email today saying I'm a finalist for the University Scholars Program. The interview weekend is April 8 - 11. Would anyone be ever so helpful to shed some light on this program?

did people selected for the Robertson scholarships generally submit the supplementary materials for this program? I didn't and I'm afraid that might be why I won't be chosen.

I did not submit supp. materials (in fact, I was unaware of the scholarship until now) and was still selected so I don't think the two are related (though it might've helped).
just forget me: I'd like to send you a pm, but it says your box is full

Inbox is cleaned out.

Testace-Last year, a lot (maybe half? maybe more?) of the finalists had not submitted supplementary materials.
