I am very interested in Robotics. My school doesn't have a Robotics Club and I like to start one. What are the best books, websites to get started? What competitions can I get into?

A robotics team is starting at my kid’s school this year. They will be competing in the “First Robotics Competition Grades 9-12” this year. A couple of the kids competed with another school last year, then with a year of experience under their belts, got the team started at our school. Check this link out.

We have not been through a full season yet, but it seems like there is a lot to do. Finding mentors (having engineers to help support your team), fundraising, logistics stuff like finding a space to work in, getting team members registered and other paperwork, asking for donations of tools & equipment, etc. And that is all before you even get the “First” problem to work on (given out first week of January, kids have about 6 weeks to build before competition). A lot of the kids on the new team are taking some free Saturday classes offered at a local technical school on various robotics topics.
