My child is interested in Robotics controls, sensors and automation. He has always liked to build things from nothing (tape, cardboard, string, paper towel rolls…), so some Mechanical Engineering. He also has an interest in Time Based Media and Graphic Design. We don’t want to go too far from our midwest area. Do you know what colleges have actual Robotics Engineering programs? Disney Imagineer would be a dream job. Worcester Polytechnic Institute in MA fits the criteria, but it is further than we would like to go. He may try a Pre-College summer program there and perhaps we will change our minds! George Washington Univ has this Robotics focus - some Mech E, Electrical E, Computer Science etc. Any other? We think smaller might be better (4000-10,000). Carnegie Mellon Mech E department seemed old and not updated, but we did not know to explore Robotics on that visit a year ago. I also wonder if Carnegie is too intense? Has anyone gone to their Robotics Institute? He is in a very intense small private college prep school getting great grades, so could possible get in. We also want him to have balance.
