**Rochester 2019 RD Discussion Thread!**

@Hobocat [or anyone else who go the email]: Can you post exactly what the email said (copy/paste), deleting any personal info? I’m just curious :smiley:

@jamesjunkers‌
Hi!

I’m sorry that the email we sent on Monday ended up cryptic and frustrating, because many of you may have seen it just as our primary server crashed. We have not had many technology interruptions, but this one has been huge.

The good news is that our hard drives have been replaced and approved by both the IBM and Microsoft teams, so we expect our servers to run again soon.

The other good news is this: we only sent that email to students who have been admitted to the University of Rochester.

Congratulations!

Now that we’ve reconstructed the list of our recipients (working around the server), this second message and good news comes to you with my apologies for any stress due to the timing. I hope you’ll be able to enjoy the news! Signed copies of your admission letter are also on their way, if yours didn’t arrive in your mailbox yet.

The only continuing bad news is that I can’t yet tell you to log in to your MyRoc account to arrange for a campus visit online. But soon. We all hope.

Meliora, best wishes, and thanks for submitting a great application,

Jonathan Burdick
Vice Provost and Dean of College Admission
University of Rochester

@jaredstone4 - thanks!!
And nice letter by the way - best part: The only continuing bad news is that I can’t yet tell you to log in to your MyRoc account to arrange for a campus visit online. I like the satiric tone :stuck_out_tongue:

@jamesjunkers‌ You’re welcome!
I thought it was a nice email too. I was able to check the portal Monday before it crashed but I didn’t get anything in the mail so I was a little skeptical, but I was glad to get this email to confirm my acceptance. :slight_smile:

@jaredstone4, congrats!! Is UR [one of] your top schools?

Just curious, is there an another email to check the myroc portal or are we still talking about the IDOC request?

@jamesjunkers‌ thanks!! It is one of them, yes. I’m still waiting on some Ivy decisions at the end of the month, but if (knock on wood) those don’t work out then Rochester is a big contender.

Accepted for 2019 class!

Congrats!! (post stats on the stats thread pls)

Anyone know when the new patch of decisions is coming out?

@jaredstone4‌ What if I received an email on Monday but did not receive the email you just copy-pasted saying that the email from Monday meant that I was accepted? Then, Do you (or any other person) think that my case is a “no”?

@CSofiaCV‌: no, the Monday email only went to accepted students. They did not send out rejection emails. The email on Monday said to check the portal for your decision. In retrospect, they probably should have just sent an email that said Congratulations, you’re in…as some other colleges have done. My S got his acceptance packet (letter, brochure) on Monday as well…hopefully you’ll get yours soon. It’s too bad this happened…and it is clear that the admissions office gets that this created unnecessary anxiety for their potential students.

Well I can now log in to MyRoc, still on Step 3…

@jamesjunkers‌ Me too. :neutral_face:

son was just able to log in to myroc. Moved to step 5, states a decision has been made on your application, you will receive notification in mail. He got the acceptance letter Monday. There are also now additional fields to accept admission etc. He had been on step 4 for at least 4-6 weeks. Applied Dec 1.

Ditto what Sapphire said, except daughter applied mid-November. Everything else the same.

Can y’all post stats on stats thread if you haven’t already

Haven’t gotten any notification as to acceptance or denial, but they continue to ask about my financial aid… is this a good sign since they’re still calculating an aid package for me or am I reading into it too much?

Logging into MyROC failed and it made me make an account again and now that I have, everything is gone. (Before I was on step 4 I believe; now I apparently haven’t even sent in an application). This happen to anyone else?

Step 4.
