Reflection
Strengths: I think my essays were really well written, and I’m also getting an associates degree in May. So maybe that looked pretty good.
Weaknesses: Literally verything else lol (except maybe my recs were good)
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Essays and recommendation. I think my strongest intrests were reflected well in my common app, as well as conveying what future me will be doing career-wise. I also showed great interest in my URoch supplement.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Rejected - Vanderbilt :(, Oberlin, Stony Brook, and Notre dame. Waitlisted - Case Western, U Richmond. Accepted - Temple U
General Comments: Honestly, this was a far reach for me. I didn’t think that I wasn’t going to get accepted because I wanted to stay positive throughout my entire college application/admissions/decisions process. All but 1 of my schools were reach, and I’m just so excited, stoked, and blessed to have been accepted here! I just want people to know that they shouldn’t let their SAT scores, GPAs, or any other kind of weakness deter them from aiming high.
Rochester seems to be accepting a lot of “under-qualified” applicants this year (myself included in this bunch - I have about a 3.4 or 3.5 UW GPA!) Don’t really know whats going on, but I think their acceptance rate must have increased since the last recorded year (2013.) It sounds to me like a lot more than 35% of applicants are getting accepted. And I’m so happy because of that, because more people get to experience how AMAZING of a school Rochester is!
@minohi someone mentioned earlier that the rate was 29% this year. also, keep in mind that Rochester takes a holistic approach.

Notes:how did I get accepted Q.Q
Edit: I was accepted on the 27th… Still waiting for the big envelope
Did everyone else who was recently accepted in the latest batch get notification about merit? I was beyond shocked when I got mine! If I get the same need-based aid I got from Case Western, I’ll be sending in my enrollment deposit.
Hey Everyone, I was wondering if anyone of you could help me out here a bit. My Roc account say: A decision has been made on your application. You will receive a notification letter in the mail. Since I’m an international student and from all the stuff I’ve read online, I believe I should’ve gotten a rejection email and since they are posting my decision, is there a possibility I might’ve gotten in. Btw, Congratulations to all those who have gotten in.
Thanks.
Im an international student and it doesn’t say anything on the portal. Just still on step 4… I haven’t received any email or mail about it.
Maybe your computer isn’t able to receive pop-ups? That’s the only thing I can think of. Are there any other “enrollment” options to “alternate list” options or stuff like that?
I’ve tried different computers And nope I don’t see any of those… The top right box is completely empty too.
Btw, Mine’s on step 5.
@ganicom try checking your spam folder. Thats where my decision ended up
I just got the email, I got in finally haha
Would rrrrrreeaaaaalllly like to get some financial aid info.
Same @gminor. I have a good feeling about it though!
I’d love to hear about financial aid too. I got a nice merit scholarship though, which made me very happy.
I got accepted, which I was totally not expecting…
Submitted my app the night before
Read everyone else’s stats that applied to Rochester, my profile was no where near as amazing as a lot of the applicants I’ve read
I honestly don’t think my extracurricular were that amazing, but that’s just my opinion
Didn’t take the interview
As you can see, even someone as extravagant as me has a chance to being accepted to Rochester, so for those future applicants reading this, don’t lose hope!

like if you’ve already committed to university of rochester!
I feel like its been more than 10 days and I haven’t gotten a financial aid notification. Where to look?
