Rochester Early Medical Scholars 2013

I just got an interview!

@cmmtac: today’s a Sunday though- how did you get your invitation today?

Will they update our online status, or just send it by mail?

Interview!!

I received an email this afternoon inviting me to REMS Weekend.

@TSoCash
It seems REMS interview emails have gone out on Sunday. Is there another batch of emails expected on Monday? If not, I suppose the rest of us are out of luck? Thanks.

@TSoCash: When it says online, “Your application is now at Step 4 awaiting committee’s final decision”, How many applicants were shortlisted to reach at that level? Thanks.

matrix007,

All 50 finalists were emailed at the same time. There will not be a second batch of finalist invitations. REMS is one of our most selective programs. Approximately 700 students applied for the 50 spots. It is important to remember that a majority of students do not enter medical school through a combined-admissions program.

fromtoronto,

Your application will sit in Step 4 until your decision has been finalized. All Early Decision and Priority Review applicants should have received their decision letters, and therefore are in Step 5. All remaining Regular Decision students should expect to receive their decision letter by April 1st. If you have any specific questions regarding your particular situation, you can always call the Admissions Office at 585-275-3221 to speak with an Admissions Counselor.

@TSocash: I guess my question was if all or mostly all 700 applicants for REMS program were short listed for Step 4? Thanks.

I got an Interview for REMS and Case Western. I really would like to attend both interviews. They are my top choice schools.
Will it be possible to Change the REMS interview Date for me?
really appreciate your help

There are no alternative dates for the interviews. You are welcome to call our office, and we can put you in touch with our REMS coordinator. She might be able to discuss arriving later / leaving early, but the interview date and time have been finalized.

@TSoCash, do you know when my REMS rejection will come? Thanks!

satrocks,

REMS decline letters are being mailed tomorrow, Friday March 8th.

TSocash

what a shame…

Wish rochester could have given us an email instead of false hope…

Can I apply to UR Early Decision and apply to the REMS program as well? Will appling to REMS affect my ED application in any way?

@hlx316, you can’t apply to both ED and REMS. applying to REMS marks your application as RD because if you aren’t accepted to REMS, they place you in the RD pool for regular undergrad acceptance. Are you applying to REMS? I think the ED deadline has already passed anyway…?

I already applied ED. I just wanted to apply to their REMS program as well

Then I guess you could apply to REMS, but then that application would replace your ED app…

Hi @TSocash. I am interested in applying this year - how much does your program take into consideration being a national merit semifinalist?
