Does anyone hear back about his or her REMS application status?

The REMS finalist list is being finalized over the next few days. Yay!!! We are aiming to invite approximately 50 students to campus for the REMS interviewing event. Out of these 50 students, approximately 10-15 will be selected as Rochester Early Medical Scholars.

Finalist invitations will be sent sometime in early/mid February.

Unfortunately, many of our REMS applicants will have to be turned away. This is our most competitive pool of applicants, and we lack the resources to invite more than 50 finalists to campus. Try not to be too discouraged if you receive a REMS decline mailing soon (I’m unsure when these are being mailed). Being denied from REMS does not automatically preclude you from gaining admission to the University of Rochester.

Thank you for your quick response, Tyler. Will the notification be through both email and snail mail or just the latter?

Good question medboun,

I just learned that the REMS finalists will receive an invitation postcard via snail mail.
REMS declines will receive a letter via snail mail.

These mailings are scheduled to go out together very early in February.

Best of luck to all REMS applicants!

I just wanted to let all Rochester Early Medical Scholar applicants know that all REMS invites and REMS decline letters are being mailed today. I’m not sure if they will be picked up by mail services this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Remember… the farther your mailbox is from Rochester, the longer you will most likely have to wait.

Once again, best of luck to all applicants!

Thank you for your update, Tyler!

Not receiving yet. Anxiously waiting.

Medboun, what city are you in? Nothing yet in Detroit.

Rochester area

Anyone received anything about REMS yet?

I was told by my interviewer that the invites were going toncome out at about the same time as the early notification. So around Feb. 15

TSocash above is a collegerep. He/she knows more about what is happening at the college right at the moment.

The REMS invitations (53 in total) have left the University of Rochester and are somewhere in the mail stream. I was under the impression that REMS decline letters were going to be sent at the same time, so everyone should receive a REMS response in the mail next week. If I hear about any updates, I’ll be sure to post them.

Tyler

Hi Tyler,

Do you know how many people in all applied to REMS this year? I’m just curious.

Thanks~

I was wondering the same thing! Also, just an update, I received my (decline) letter today in the mail (I live in NJ), so they are definitely on the way.

I know that last year we had approximately 900 people indicate interest in the REMS program. I don’t think that there has been an official tally at this point, but I fully expect that this year’s total will mirror last year’s. We definitely didn’t see a shortage of REMS applications.

The REMS pool has consistently been our most competitive pool of applicants every year. Approximately 900 people are vying for 53 finalist spots… and may the odds be ever in your favor.

I’m from Colorado and I received an acceptance postcard today. :)

Kutchan: Can you post your stats please?

I just created a stats profile. (I’m not sure if you can see that or if it is only for my personal use). 31 ACT (34 on math 35 on science); Hospital Volunteering; Doctor Shadowing/Surgery Observations; aspiring surgeon; 5 on AP Chem, 4 on APUSH; currently taking AP Bio, AP Calc AB, and AP Lit; involved in music and athletics; 4.0 unweighted (#2 in my class of 146)

Not sure if that is helpful but there ya go.

Nice dude, i also got an invitation but I’m on a two month school trip in China right now :/
